Update: For two weeks the app goes to a Menu screen highLighting Thermostat but it doesn’t access the thermostat, schedule, savings, etc. When this first happened I remotely rebooted my Gateway and it didn’t fix it, but did cause home items to lose their connections until I got home and rebooted all off them. Nothing has fixed the app. Now I have to go to each thermostat and manually take them off of away status.************************************************This is fairly easy to use in setting planned temperatures for different times of day & during vacation times. What is really bad is when planned events generate unnecessary temperature changes.I had to call NV Energy to have them stop turning on my air conditioner during the day when they have less customer usage. If the had a "real smart" thermostat it would have known that we rarely run our HVAC during the summer. We actually open windows at night and cool the house, close windows in the morning and have very comfortable temps throughout the day.Additionally, this is the only Apple App that I use requiring a login that doesn't allow Touch ID. It is also the only household app that isn't Apple Home Kit compatible.We are evaluating alternative thermostats that are Home Kit compatible to replace our NV Energy thermostats. Several of these are smart enough to not turn on our AC when we aren't at home & haven't run it for months.

This smart system seems to do whatever it pleases. I will turn the temperature up to 77* and then when I check it because the air kicked on again it shows it set back to 74*. It does this constantly. When I called NVEnergy and asked to be disconnected from them being able to change my temperature they said I have to be part of the program for 3 years first. I want to make clear that it is summer in Las Vegas so the change from 77* to 74* is not saving energy, it is using more. I am constantly on the app monitoring the setting because they change several times a day, sometimes several times an hour. Super frustrating. What I do like is being able to monitor and control my system from my phone so I will have to invest in my own smart system. Also the schedule setting interface is not user friendly and the temperature doesn’t follow the schedule that I set so what’s the point of even having it?! Huge fail.

This system is so awful and frustrating. It randomly changes your temperature all day and night. After 2.5 months of dealing with it I am planning on calling and having them remove the thermostat ASAP. I am so annoyed at the random temperature changes. They forget to mention that even when they are not doing an energy event they will change your temperature all day and night from. We try to keep our house at a fairly constant temperature. We have four children one of which is special needs and if it is really warm in the house she has problems. Well, i am now constantly checking the temperature to ensure they aren’t changing it. The other night the alarm on the baby monitor for myson’s room was going off at 2am because they had once again randomly raised the temperature in the house and his room got very hot.

The app is okay and has worked well for me over the past four or five years, but recently (as of Oct-2021), the older thermostat I have installed stopped responding. Turns out it’s an issue with all of the old ones so they’re replacing it ✨for free✨. For those complaining about the app changing the temp, you have to go into the app and check your schedule. It’s likely on a schedule that you can adjust. Also you can opt out of energy events using the app or by changing your temp on the thermostat. I like participating in events because it helps the environment by reducing the amount of electric demand at peak times so they don’t have to use as much less efficient backup generators. Give it a shot, it’s a good FREE alternative to Nest IMO.
