I first tried the app about 6 months ago, kept to the free option. Fear of commitment, sure it’s only $6? a month but I didn’t want to pull the trigger. Wanted to make sure I really liked it and would use it. Well I liked it, and I used it. Did the monthly to see if the other features would be to my benefit, both my wife and I use it. After using up the monthly we decided to go with the family subscription. It’s not on option through the app but it is through the IOS substitution settings. The app didn’t recognize the subscription, I emailed the staff at paddler. They were responsive and took care of the problem. Two things I would like to see in the app, unless I just could figure it out. 1. The ability to select each session to back it up as a batch instead of having to do each one individually. 2. Family subscription option from within the paddler app instead of just the individual monthly and individual yearly. Other then that thank you guys for taking care of the problem I experienced and for providing a great app. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PADDLER FOR THOSE ON THE FENCE about buying it.

I’ve been using paddlelogger since it was released. I might be one of the first few hundred people to ever use the app. It’s easy to use, the interface is incredibly intuitive. I can log a variety of paddlecraft, customize my activity, notes, add imagery, share with my buddies, share the data if and when needed. It’s a great app for paddling and or even using it for crossover sports like SUP skate/land paddling. I highly recommend it. You don’t have to sift through dozens of other activities to get to the one you want. Also, the emergency flare feature is brilliant, which allows you to notify somebody if you haven’t checked back in within a predetermined amount of time. It’s like having a dynamic float plan. I’m probably going to land paddle for 15 miles this morning, jump back into work, then get out to our lake and put in another 5 to 12 miles. In any case, should something go awry, my loved ones will know where I am.My wife just download it as well. My buddies have been using it. outstanding app.

Problems with current version

New pro user. iPhone 7 with iOS 13.4; Apple Watch series 3 38 mm with watchOS 6.2.1. (Review updated)First use major problem: no way to end session from watch when waterlock is in use, the watch screen is locked and non-responsive, spinning the crown says it releases the lock but does not, soft restart not available (side button calls SOS), so had to hard restart to get the watch back. Tried multiple times including complete app reinstall with same results. The watch app seems to work correctly when waterlock is not in use, and the display screen looks a bit different (not sure why). Also, some problems with the iPhone app: can’t figure out how to rename or delete folders in log, new folders don’t immediately appear in the folder list (can force by restarting program), deleting sessions doesn’t update list (leads to infinite spinner, can force update as above), and deleted sessions may reappear later (may have been recorded on watch). Also, I use a program called Run Gap to pull my workouts to a single list. Workouts from yoga, strength training, and cycling apps all appear as entries with correct names (“yoga”, “strength training”, and “cycling”). Paddle Logger’s entries appear as a place name with no indication of the activity. “Paddling”, “paddle sports”, or “water sports” would be better. I’d guess there’s a title data element for transfer to Apple Health and it would be more useful if that referred to the type of activity instead of the location. My paddles ended up named for the trailer park that’s near the reservoir.

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch! This is really good feedback. For support, I would ask you get in touch via the app and we can resolve any issues more quickly! We are aware of a bug with the Waterlock, if you swipe to Paddle Logger settings on the Apple Watch you can turn Apple’s WaterLock off and our one will enable by default. It works in exactly the same way, just without the droplet logo. Rotate crown to end trip etc. We have fixed the folders bug and will be out in the next release as will the Waterlock fix. I hope this helps some of your issues, if you could e-mail us from within the app we can make sure everything else is resolved rapidly! Thanks!
A must for the solo paddler

Your number one safety gear is your life vest. Number two is a cell phone in a waterproof case tied to your life vest with Paddle Logger Pro installed. Both of my kids get a text message when I head out and can follow my progress. If you need help, one click and even someone 3000 miles away can send help to your exact coordinates. I stopped for a long time to watch a bird, my son noticed I wasn’t moving on the map and texted to see if I was OK- it works!I appreciate all the other features like being able to look at maps of past trips, distance traveled, speed in 1 mile splits, automatic connections to photographs etc. but the safety aspect gives me the confidence to paddle alone even in cold weather. Made a pouch for my phone and attached it to the front of the life vest so the string doesn’t get in my way. Bonus: makes it easier to grab it fast to take photos. Alice

That’s awesome! Thanks for your review! Keep on charging and we look forward to seeing your paddle progression! Happy paddling!!
We've got some important bug fixes and exciting improvements in this update:
Fixed an issue where distance unit changes weren't syncing properly between iPhone and Apple Watch for some paddlers
Enhanced the blog section for a smoother reading experience
Based on your feedback, we've reverted recent logbook changes to make session summaries easier to access. Simply tap any session in your logbook to view the summary, then tap the map to see your route in detail
Reintroduced support for devices running watchOS 10 following paddler feedback
Fixed an issue where the in-session compass didn't always update reliably
Added a new checklist to help new paddlers get familiar with the app
Thank you to everyone who reports bugs and shares feedback; it genuinely helps us improve the app with every update.
As always, happy paddling!
