Epic level is so epic you can pretty much never succeed and finish off a level. The normal levels are nicely challenging and I’ve finished every one but Epic Level is such a difficult one that I may delete the game...there’s just no chance to advance/win the level. I’ve been stuck on the first Epic Level for over a week without even getting close to Round 28. If you survive the first dozen or so rounds, right around Round 15 the cards that are dealt are always bad as well as having too many obstacles to overcome. When you get zapped for 10 hearts and shields in one flip of the card, there’s no way to have that defense to survive. If you do survive that flip of the card, the next one will wipe you out. There’s just no chance at all and that destroys the fun of the game. I don’t mind a challenge but when everything is pretty much un-winnable, it takes the fun out of trying to advance. Plus, on the Epic Level original points earned are 10 points lower at the start (20 base points instead of the 30 points found on the normal levels) so you get in a deficit right from the beginning without the ability to really earn points to get advantages for later in the Epic Level. You get lower points with the items to buy with your earned points stay the same. It’s quite disheartening and very frustrating that it takes about 30-45 minutes to get to about Round 15 (or so) to only lose all four hourglass tries in a matter of five minutes or less. Make it difficult, that’s fine, but don’t make it where you cannot have any chance to win levels.
Awesome Game! Top Pick!

My experience has been that when you actually pay attention to your surrounding options, plan moves ahead and use powers and energies at the right time you can advance in the game. Personally I like to combine the spell that reveals the second row of cards for each column with the single stab spell to clear the front card. That’s just one strategic approach that’s working very well for me. I can think of 30 or more in the next 5 minutes. You have to approach every battle differently because each level is unique and some spells work better then others depending on the Monster you are fighting. The gameplay is strategically driven, original and far from heavy RNG. These elements are very well balanced in this game. The only reason anyone would rate this game negatively is because they failed to grasped the actual gameplay of the game.Hands down one of my favorite games and I’m glad that is practically available for every platform because I did purchased both the IOS and the Steam versions. This is only my take on it and again...my humble opinion. Looking forward for future expansion packs or new versions.
Excellent

The strategy to this game comes from power usage. Optimizing when to attack and when to get a wildcard for the biggest streak you can, while stunning and defending and healing up is so satisfying. I bought the $1 DLC that added 4 extra classes, and I love them all except the Barbarian. The first class I was able to win with was the Vanguard. The Monk is prolly my favorite class, although the Acrobat and Sorcerer are both excellent as well. When I play Monk, I can sometimes keep the enemy stunned for the entire battle with Counterpunch while I mop up the board with wild cards. With the Sorcerer and Wizard, I can deal so much burst damage all at once that the board is cleared before the enemy has started to be a threat. I’ve found the biggest impeding condition an enemy card can have is Armored, unless you get lucky and have two adjacent Armored cards like a J and a Q. I’ve lost more runs just from bad card draw than anything else, but even a bad run gets you some gems that you can use to buy MASSIVE bonuses. For most classes, the K and A upgrade are by far the most useful. I haven’t been able to finish a run yet without at least 2 card upgrades and usually also at least 1 extra inventory slot. I haven’t beaten an epic run yet, and I’ve beaten Normal with about half the classes. This game has replaced Dream Quest as the game that I play every single day for at least an hour or two. I would love to see some more classes with new mechanics, and I’d happily pay more money for them. Or a new game from this studio.
Mixed Feelings
just some guy who likes this
I’ll start out by saying that I think this is a really well made game. The gameplay and progression are well designed, the graphics and sounds are nice, it’s got a solid amount of content included in the base game. All that said, after around 8-10 hours with it, I frequently find myself opening the game and immediately closing it again because I realize that I really just don’t want to play it. The core gameplay loop of playing solitaire over and over got stale for me really fast. Even with all the variety brought by optimizing the spells and items, I just don’t want to clear another row of cards. While my own interest in it fizzled in it quickly, I still think that Solitairica is worth giving a shot if you are a fan of solitaire and/or roguelike card games. The game was designed to be fun, not to manipulate you into buying gems or some other IAP bs, and I think for many people it will achieve that goal.
