This app requires a license. You get a free 14 day license, but this should be made clear prior to installation. Not doing so is deceptive and rude. Lifetime license is $20 at the time of writing, subscription is less (but who wants to pay indefinitely for an IRC client?).The biggest problem and why I said it was nearly unusable in the title is that, through no fault of the developer, you cannot stay connected unless the app has focus and does not go to sleep. You will not receive messages for more than 30 seconds if the app is running in the background or if the screen turns off. For an IRC client, this limitation makes it impractical at best and utterly useless at worst. This is Apple’s fault, not the developer, but it still means the app gets less stars. Lack of functionality is relevant no matter whose fault it is.If you are going to do nothing but talk in IRC channels the entire time you are connected, and you don’t mind paying heftily for an IRC client, then this is the app for you. Otherwise… use a different device. Oh, and complain to Apple, because their limitation is ridiculous.Edit: the apps functionality and usability is relevant no matter whose fault it is. No one and no thing is above criticism. Professional this apps developer is not.Thank you for providing further evidence about what kind of person you are. It’s always amusing how the people with the least understanding are the ones most certain they do and the first to accuse everyone else.
I wouldn't say anything is deceptive, Apple clearly states "in app purchases" next to the button to initially download it and it tells you about the licensing the second you get into the app. $20 one time for an app as feature packed as igloo and is frequently updated is also extremely fair. As for the background timeout, most people use a bouncer, there's a ton of bouncer services such as irc.xyz or you can self host with znc.in or soju.im (or there's some hosted services using these). But yeah your complaints are both with apple not igloo, so the 1 star is pretty unfair. Update after review edit:You realize the cost isn't hidden, the App Store is just designed that way, it shows you there are in app purchases and even lists the purchases. I'm sorry you don't understand how your phone works, but let me explain. If the app wasn't free to download, then I couldn't give people a trial, I'd be expecting everyone to pay up front and force people to have to go deal with Apple to be given a refund if they aren't happy. What you're calling deceptive literally exists so I can be generous and provide a better user experience. As for your complaint to Apple that you're still directing to me; if there is nothing I can do about it, it's not a complaint for the app developer. Here's what I've gathered from this whole interaction:1. You're very confrontational2. You're poor3. You don't understand how your phone works4. You don't understand how the App Store works5. You don't understand how IRC worksYou could've just asked for help and for a free license like everyone else and moved on instead of this whole charade.
