KAYA is your climbing guide. Climbers use KAYA to discover climbs, share beta, log sends, and track progress. Download and join the most psyched community in climbing.

All the data, beta, and resources in one place. KAYA PRO makes outdoor climbing more accessible and convenient than ever before with verified GPS coordinates, interactive topos, and detailed climb descriptions. Official KAYA Guides are available for classic areas like Bishop, Joe’s Valley, and more — all available offline for when the service gets rough.

- Track Progress -
With thousands of gyms and climbing areas in our database, KAYA offers a superior logging experience. Videos, ascents, comments, and star ratings are all available within each climb page. If you’ve kept a logbook with another app or website in the past, you can easily upload it into KAYA through your profile page.

- Connect -
KAYA is community-focused. You’ll be notified when your buddy breaks into a new grade so you can leave ‘em a fist-bump and a comment. In-app messenger allows you to connect with other climbers, and, if your gym is on KAYA, receive new set notifications when the routesetting team finishes slinging the freshies.

- Compete -
KAYA challenges are one of the best ways to stay motivated and interact competitively with the climbing community. Go up against the world’s best or compete with your friends at your local competition.

It doesn’t stop there. We are always making changes and improvements to KAYA. Keep your updates turned on so you won’t miss a thing.

Mmeyer95 ,

Excellent idea, good execution, but some drawbacks

Adding another star and rewriting my review because I can tell they are actively working towards improvements. I use this app multiple times a week and am very thankful for the info it provides as well as the community feel from being able to post and interact with posts from others. Some remaining bugs I am aware of:

- When you upload a video, it often gets stuck with the “uploading” UI bar even after upload has completed. I have to quit the app to get it to disappear
- I have lately been getting notifications that there is a new set, but then when I follow the notification nothing is new in the list.
- Sometimes route bubbles disappear when looking at the map view. Quitting the app or navigating to the climb through another breadcrumb trail lets you get there but they’ll still periodically disappear.
- I tried the offline maps/ guidebook via a trial and was disappointed. I wasn’t actually able to load things fully offline and there wasn’t enough information to actually get to the climb(s). It’s not functional enough to replace an actual guidebook and therefore I wouldn’t pay for it at this point in time. I do have hope that it will improve though, given how much progress has been made since I started using the app.

I love the app but it’s stopped working for iOS 17

Update: The issue got fixed a bit ago, and is running smoothly again. I’ve been using it more, even when I’m away from my gym that uses KAYA. I’ve found it really helpful for knowing when I should be projecting climbs at harder grades, work on volume, or work on my flash level. It’s great to go into a session targeting one of these points and in the past 3 months has improved my consistency within grades. It is a very statistical approach but it works and has given me more satisfaction out of my climbing, rather than aimlessly chasing a grade that is frankly too hard for me at this point. Thank you to the KAYA team, apps like this push climbing forward and keeps it up to date with changing times. So stoked to see the future of this app and hopefully areas overseas start getting guidebooks on this app.

After updating to iOS 17 on my iPhone 13 mini the KAYA app has been stuck on the logo opening screen. I’ve tried restarting, deleting and redownloading the app, but it still doesn’t work. Aside from that, this app is great, I’ve found it really useful for tracking my sessions, and looking at my ascents helps me to figure out where I need to improve. Hopefully they’re already working on this issue, but I’m excited to continue using it.

Seeing Steady Improvement

As an indoor-only climber, I’ve found this app to be awesome for tracking projects at my home gym, for sharing videos of sends, and to explore a little of what others are doing. They converted the tracking feature to subscribers-only so I begrudgingly become one and I’ll be honest… Given how I use the app, it doesn’t feel worth it. It feels like the main audience is outdoor climbers so it doesn’t meet my expectations. For example, tracking climbs would be easier if I could minimize the list and focus solely on the gym map + whatever marker I’ve tapped. The visualizations are pretty useless because they rarely feel reflective of the quality of my workout. I feel like the copy often implies that I didn’t do the most simply because I’m not sending more and higher every time. In addition to taking a different approach with how the app reads our climbing data, maybe there should be “types” of sessions for determining how the data should be read (training? Projects? Repeats?). Speaking of, I wish starting a session meant more than just swiping to mark a send or attempt. Why doesn’t the app sync with my Apple watch and use that data in its charts? Why can’t I see my progress by set periods of time instead of by all time?… Focusing solely on the pieces of the app that meet my needs: It’s fine, it has noticeably improved since I joined a while back, and I do look forward to more progress.
