Ratings and Reviews
A long time coming
It took them way too long to address serious issues, and now there appear to be new ones. You would pause the schedule back in the day for 2 hours, sometimes it’d work, sometimes it wouldn’t, sometimes it’d pause it indefinitely, even though you set it for a short periods of time.
Now it appears like it’s working correctly. Except sometimes you set a temp, and it’ll keep cooling well past your setting and it just keeps going. I don’t even trust it’s statistics anymore. Hopefully now that they’ve addressed old issues, that shows they’ll keep it up
Planned obsolescence is bad
I have a Lux Geo that won’t connect to Wi-Fi for longer than 30 seconds. Apparently this is intentional on JCI’s (owner of Lux) part, as the firmware must be able to talk to their App or the device will automatically disconnect from Wi-Fi and refuse to stay connected… and support confirmed that thermostats not already on newer firmware have NO way to update, not even manually via USB, turning them into basic standalone thermostats with NONE of the smart features. Due to this, I would not recommend this app, any of their devices, or any of their other brands to anyone, as you have no way of knowing, even buying new, if it is old stock on old firmware that cannot be updated, so lacks important advertised features. If the App Store would allow me to upload screenshots, I would include my emails with support in this review. But what all of this tells me is that this is the reason so many users are having issues getting their thermostats to connect and talk to the app. JCI intentionally broke their functionality.
Expect to call customer service once per month
If your batteries are low, it will - by design- shut off it’s WiFi connection. You’ll lose connectivity to the app. Then you call customer service. Wouldn’t it be easier if the display screen just tells you “replace batteries to restore WiFi”?
