Description
The “Marantz AVR Remote” app for iPhone and iPad will give you an unprecedented level of command and control over the latest generation of Marantz AV Receivers (due to hardware differences, older models are not supported with this app. Please check the model compatibility list below; if your model is not listed, please download our previous “Marantz Remote App”). A wide portfolio of useful features, nicely designed graphics and easy to operate user interface do make the app a useful tool to control your AVR.
Control the basic functions of your Marantz product with power, volume, input and settings. Have direct access to Smart Select and Surround Modes.
Network browsing is either done within the Marantz AVR Remote app or depending on model by selecting HEOS network as input which opens the HEOS app automatically.
With the new Marantz AVR Remote, your iOS device just became an integral part of your home entertainment experience.

Ratings and Reviews
Required, but not intuitive.
I firmly believe that this is a requirement for the Cinema series as you can’t see on the front screen what speakers should be active etc, while using ARC. This app is able to provide this information and for that I am grateful.
For an easy way to manage the AVR just use the web view option as its laid out very sensibly. I pray this functionality is never changed or removed, only improved as needed.
The app however, could use some basic customization in regards to what should be displayed when the app is opened by default. I don’t want to click into info to see the active speakers etc. A good start would be to have the exact same menu layout you can get through the remote to be something you can scroll through in the app. Not all settings are available in the app that are through the remote and it’s not always clear if I’m in the wrong menu or the functionality is just not available in the app. Hopefully these suggestions can be taken into consideration.
Only Thing I Use
I don’t know what the problems are with people having difficulties with this app. With the occasional having to power down my Marantz SR 6014, I have found this app to be extremely useful. It has gone through several upgrades which have made it more stable at least for my receiver and I have been using it for three years now. I use this to do all kinds of adjustments while I’m watching content and hardly ever use the remote for anything. It feels like I’m the only one who really likes the app so it makes me query if some people just don’t know how to operate it or that their receivers are not able to connect with it properly. There are a myriad of reasons that this can be happening not the least of which is keeping up on updates or having a good Internet connection. We use ethernet to make sure that the connection to the Marantz is stable. I appreciate the work that has gone into the app and I just woud like the developers to know that I think they’ve done a good job.
Like it but two flaws
I do like this app on iPad and iPhone - it works great most of the time. However, there are 2 things that need some improvement.
(1) I don’t like when I select Blu-ray as a source, the app acts totally different. Rather than showing me the active input and output channels like normal (and like I want), it forces the app to show Blu-ray player controls. What??? I never use this app for Blu-ray controls. Not only is that inconsistent with the behavior throughout every other source, it does not allow me to disable it! Oh, and it doesn’t control my player anyhow. Please stop this behavior in the app. Make it act like the other sources and be consistent.
(2) This doesn’t have a night/dark mode! There I am sitting in a black home theater, and I want to launch the app - which then blinds me and distracts others around me. Please give an option to have it switch to dark mode automatically with the phone, and even better, allow the user to enable it manually (if they want to lock it in to the dark mode or light mode no matter what time day).
