Description
The Gridsynth is an instrument that combines lines and tones. Sound and form are changed at the same time. Further tools make it possible to create soundscapes and beats.
Mazetools opens up a unique approach to music and creativity. It's about exploring sounds in a new way, experiencing them visually, changing them through gestures, coming across something in the process, a sound, a melody, a groove, a song...
For the first time, we have integrated an interface that allows you to control sound through movement. This is done through the camera of your device and ML-based body recognition. It enables new musical experiences and shared creative moments.
Mazetools are unique in their operation and complex in their own way. For some it's a welcome change, for others it's too crazy, for some it's just the right introduction to the world of sound.
There are currently two Mazetools: Mutant and Soniface. Mutant is comparable to a loop machine and works with a defined number of instruments. It produces results quickly, but thanks to the Hypercube it offers the possibility to change everything with a swipe and to hear sounds that always surprise us.
Soniface, on the other hand, is more modular when it comes to adding instruments. The settings of the synth, sampler and rhythm modules go into great detail. An important feature is the Gridsynth, an area of lines that correspond to a scale over several octaves. Automation plays a major role in Soniface: all instruments and their controllers can be controlled via LFOs, touch and camera-based body tracking.

About Mazetools
We are Stephan and Jakob, when we were 13 in 1999, we exchanged our first beat loops on floppy disks and wrote raps on them. Today we are still fascinated by sound, release our music and realize multimedia performances. You can find more information on Ectoplastic.com.
With this background, we share a lot of practical experience with Mazetools, from generative sound & visual patches to the development of multi-touch & motion tracking interfaces and VR sound development.
We use this technological core to empower creativity, make musical expression inclusive and thus democratize electronic music. We are still within this process, but there is a lot of potential! We invite you to join us. Every purchase directly supports, every positive review, post and constructive feedback. Thank you very much!

Ratings and Reviews
Perfect mix of randomness and control.
Open this app at your own risk! High probability that you’ll come too an hour later drooling and confused. I will for sure buy the full version bundled with their new app someday, but realistically-I’m not mentally prepared quite yet. Having access to a single maze is a recipe for having way too much damned fun, so I can’t imagine what playing a passel of them would do...Im leaning toward them effortlessly scorching the entirety of my personal relationships, while rendering me unable to communicate in multi-syllabic words for a period of several months after finally attempting to put it down. In all seriousness: while it’s not the kind of app that you’re likely to pull up on a track in Auria, because it’s going to be the best tool for the particular task you’re looking to accomplish, it IS the kind of app that makes you realize how much fun you can have when experiencing the perfect marriage between an iPad and synthesis. This is why I left my hardware samplers and synths behind 10 years ago and never looked back. Best freebie ever!
Wow! Truly fascinating!
This a hidden gem. Can’t believe it has only 2 reviews. I’d lie if I said I figured this app out, part of me doesn’t want to actually. This app can’t described with words.
runs constantly in background eating battery
Couldn't figure out why my iPad Air 5th gen was running hot and losing power so fast, checked battery in Settings and discovered this app has been chugging along for days just burning through the iPad's power--as in, 85% of the power usage yesterday was from this app, even though I never once opened it. I don't even remember launching it, as I was testing a bunch of audio apps at the same time last week. I probably had this open less than a minute, but it's been using max resources ever since. This morning I deleted it and apologized to my iPad for installing a vampire app. Maybe my battery hasn't been too damaged. 😡
