CarPlay. Milometry now has a car screen: a Start trip card while parked, live distance, speed and duration while recording, a Today tab with the day's drives, the week's distance and the year's claim, and a business or personal question when a drive ends with the car still connected. Plugging in starts recording by itself, so a drive that begins on CarPlay is never missed. That can be switched off under Tracking. Fewer phantom trips. A phone sitting still indoors could start a trip on its own, keep it running for an hour, and turn a few hundred metres of GPS drift into a drive. Three separate causes, all fixed: a trip now only restarts after a silence if the phone has actually gone somewhere, drift between two vague fixes no longer counts as speed, and the driving-speed setting means what it says. Quiet means quiet. With quiet mode on, the app sends no notifications at all: no start a trip prompt, no recording stopped notice, no save prompt, and reminders due inside the quiet window are held back. Commute reminders are only scheduled inside your travel hours. Two new settings under Tracking: the size of the ring around where you parked, for anyone who walks about a depot, a site or a hospital all day, and how far the phone may wander while parked before it counts as moving. The recording stopped notice no longer appears just because the phone sat still, and only for trips that have actually been confirmed as a drive.

Quiet mode, from the bell on the Track screen, by voice, from the app icon or from the widget. On a train, a bus or in someone else's car the app still records, but says nothing: no notification when a journey starts or ends, nothing on the Lock Screen. Four hours, until tonight, or until you turn it off. Or let your calendar do it: an event mentioning a train or a bus keeps the app quiet while it is on. Travel hours. Tell the app when you normally drive, day by day, and anything outside those hours is recorded quietly. The app now notices when a recorded journey looks like a train or a bus: no corners and a steady speed, or gentle stop-start at town pace. It asks before anything is binned, unless quiet mode was on, in which case it is binned for you. It learns from your answers and stops asking once it has them right, offers to tag a station it keeps seeing, and never questions a drive that started from CarPlay or your car's Bluetooth. Binned trips sit under a new Bin filter on the Trips list, with Restore. A long drive could be saved and then deleted seconds later by the check that recovers unfinished trips. It cannot any more, and a drive that ends with the phone in a pocket is written down before its place names are looked up rather than after. A drive that began within ten minutes of the app re-checking where you had parked was refused as a repeat of the previous one. It is recorded now. If the phone stops recording partway through a day, the drives either side of the silence are saved as separate journeys rather than one long one. On iPhone a second, cheaper location service now watches for you setting off while parked, so a slow or missed wake-up from the parking spot is no longer the only chance. And the app now says so on iPhone too when location is not allowed all the time.

Drives that begin while the app is closed are recorded on iPhone. A departure announced the moment iOS woke the app was being mistaken for a false alarm, and once one had been dismissed nothing further was noticed until the app was opened again. Found from your feedback, and fixed. Milometry now says when your phone is blocking its notifications, so a drive recorded in the background can no longer start and finish without a word. One Export button, and a builder behind it. Choose journeys, fuel or route points, a spreadsheet or a claim document, one claim year or everything, and see what the file contains before you send it. Spreadsheets can carry much more: exact distance, duration, average speed, vehicle, passengers and expenses, and the route itself, either as a column or as one row per point ready to map. Groups leave the app at last. The group a journey belongs to now appears in the spreadsheet and in the claim document, so a work site or a client can be referenced by whoever reads it.

Share a drive, a month or the whole claim year as an image. Eight looks to swipe between, one of them the real map of the route you drove. Plan a drive before you make it: drop a pin, see the distance, what it will cost in fuel and what it is worth to claim, then start recording from the same screen. The claim year, start to finish. A year-end walk takes you through whatever is left to sort, and you can mark a year as submitted so nothing changes it by accident afterwards. Figures that match your own: a true cost per mile worked out from your standing costs, charge-out rates for the clients you bill, and the gap between what you are reimbursed and what you could claim, on every statement. Backups worth trusting. Seal them with a passphrase so a synced folder cannot read a life story, keep dated monthly copies, and see what a backup contains before it replaces anything. Long-press the app icon to start a trip, and an automatic drive is matched to the car whose Bluetooth your phone is on.

A drive recorded with no connection now has its start and end named as soon as you are back online, so an offline stretch no longer leaves places blank. When a drive ends by itself, the notification tells you where it finished, so you can see which trip it is without opening the app. The map recentres on where you are each time you open the Track screen. A storage screen shows what the app is using and where it goes. You can drop the map lines from old trips and the photographs from old receipts to free space up, and every distance, date and figure stays exactly as it was. You are told when a new version is out, and you can skip it.
