I used this to set up an MG8725 router. The process was a bit rough. The first time I entered the device’s MAC address, I got a generic error message. It worked when I retried. It created a default network and didn’t prompt me to create my own, so I tried changing the default network’s SSID and password to what I wanted. This caused the app to get confused; I wound up with a persistent error message and two networks, with the default network keeping the 5GHz band and my new network only using the 2.4GHz band. The app gave me another error message when I tried to enable the 5GHz band for my new network, so I deleted both networks and created a new one, which finally got me the results I wanted. The router is excellent, but this was a bad experience.

Also, I really wish this app didn’t require you to create a username/password before you can set up your device. At the very least it should support “Sign in with Apple” to make the process smoother.

At first I was really excited about this app because it was supposed to give me complete co trip over the devices on my network and the websites that were allowed by each device. I can see the devices on my network but often there’s no way to match the device listing to a real physical device. The app is laggy and sometimes doesn’t connect at all. Pausing device access works at times and other times does not. Worst of all the website blocker doesn’t work. It takes forever to punch in urls to the blacklist using your phone keypad and there’s no way to copy /paste those url collections to other devices on your network so you have to repeat the entire list for every device. Then on top of all that, the blacklist doesn’t even do anything. I spoke with tech support and they co firmed they could reproduce the issue and it has been “escalated”. Now three weeks later they’re still not getting back to me. On top of all that you cannot opt out of their data mining of your internet usage or they turn off the service. I’m searching for a better interface for this $400 modem.

Initial setup was not easy nor intuitive. Plug in then had to go to the xfinity app to recognize hardware. NBD, and then it appeared creating networks and adding devices was going smoothly. But then it appears only 1 network can be active at a time, unlike Netfear that will show all networks as available. And now Motosync thinks I have 20 devices when I have 9. The tools on the app do not work. Tried to pause 2 devices to try to determine what they were, but pause simply showed busy, never paused. Then on restart devices showed pause and wouldn’t restart. Unplugged 1 device to identify and after 10 minutes motosync still showed device had excellent connection. The app lags so badly it’s useless trying to determine what devices are on network.
