The app would be nice, but poor UX
One thing I can’t seem to wrap my head around is why you’d need to be connected to WiFi in order to access the main dashboard.
To me, it’s made for a poor experience as our SURFboard consistently drops our home network, which also boots me from the app — the very tool I’m using to run diagnostics. In order to set up my router, I need this app. But this app needs WiFi to work. That’s a bit confusing, isn’t it?
I understand that the app and device need to be tethered in order to reach a connection, but there are many ways to connect devices.
In spite of this, I like the app. It’s easy to use, makes management simple enough, and it has a nice monitoring feature built in. The app would be great, it has potential, but it’s not there today.
Currently, we’re reconsidering whether or not we want to get a whole new setup because of the issues.
Although, take that with a grain of salt because we haven’t totally finished investigating that the router is to blame. But Arris support did tell me that some devices have trouble connecting to Apple products. I should’ve read reviews ahead of time on that, so that’s on me. But it’s almost 2019 and interoperability is at an all time high so maybe I’m not totally to blame.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I like the products when they work. It’s just, well, they don’t always work.
Current version of app works perfectly
Ignore reviews saying this app freezes. The current update runs smoothly
Never able to fetch information
The one function on this app that is most critical is the Network Map, which is supposed to provide the ability to manage devices on the network (I.e. turn off my child’s access to the Wi-Fi on a school night). Well, it rarely works, so there’s that. Basically, the rest of the app is pointless. Way to go Arris.
