Go beyond notes, sketchbooks, and wikis. Because your thinking shouldn‘t be constrained to linear documents of mostly text.

Muse is a spatial canvas for your research notes, reading material, sketches, screenshots, and bookmarks. Arrange, scribble, find patterns and insights, and make sense of your world.

Overpriced and missing key functionality

I’m all for supporting developers, and am even okay paying subscription fees. But $99 per year is too much.

Additionally, this app is missing key functionality:
- Why cant I zoom in and out so i can see all the contents of a board?
- Why am I limited to so few colors when drawing with the Apple Pencil?
- Shouldn’t there be a file view, so you can see all your boards you’ve made at once? It may not be a big deal to have one board containing all of your sub-boards, but what if you have 100s of boards? It would be much easier to find a given board in a file-view than it would be to navigate one mega board.

If you’re intended market is students like me, then you’re out pricing yourselves. This app seems like it has promise, but there’s just no way I can afford it.

Edit: Thank you for the reply Muse. I intend to keep an eye on this app! Has a lot of potential, but I hope you all reconsider the pricing!

Developer Response ,

Hi there, thanks for the honest feedback! If you're a student, we'd be happy to set you up with a discounted subscription if you email us at

> How do you delete things that you’ve added to a board?
Things work a little differently in Muse than you might be used to from other apps, because we don't like gestures like tap+hold that interrupt your flow. To delete something in Muse, just drag or flick it off the edge of the screen.

> Why cant I zoom in and out so i can see all the contents of a board?
Muse boards are displayed at a fixed scale to make it easy to interact with your content. However, we are planning to add functionality that lets you get a better overview of all the content on a board, such as a mini-map, or the ability to quickly zoom out to see everything. In a release that's coming up soon, board cards will also adapt automatically to show all their content.

> Why am I limited to so few colors when drawing with the Apple Pencil?
You can add more colors to your Apple Pencil toolkit through the Settings Menu > Pencil Toolkit. Muse is not primarily a drawing app, and we believe that too much choice can sometimes be distracting, which is why we offer a careful selection of colors that suit most our user's needs.

> Shouldn’t there be a file view, so you can see all your boards you’ve made at once?
This is a good point, and we're planning to add features in the future that will make large collections of content more navigable and allow you to arrange boards not just spatially, but i.e. in linear collections.

Game Changing App for Business and Life

The team at Muse have created an incredible product oriented toward creativity and organization. The app uniquely manages to combine a blank canvas with structural organization, in turn presenting an opportunity for unrestrained thought and productivity. Never before have I been more effective in terms of idea generation and project development than I have with Muse at my disposal. In addition, the founders behind Muse have been incredible to work with. Their ability to source feedback on the product (and most importantly, act upon it) has allowed them to take a game changing application and continually improve on it. With a dynamite product and a special team committed to improvement, Muse will only get better with time. I’ll be along for the journey, and am excited to see how this app will impact others in similar ways to what it has done for me.

Life changing

I have ADHD, and I have always struggled to complete my readings for my classes and take effective notes. I’m also an art student and really think visually and spatially. Because of muse, for the first time in my 4 years as an undergrad, I’m getting my readings done (using side by side mode) and am able to organize my notes and ideas in a way that has really enhanced my learning experience and creative process. It’s like an extension of my brain! I also emailed the team with a question and they were quick and friendly in their reply. Thank you so much for creating this app!
A few things that could be helpful in the future
-Larger card space/ able to go any direction rather than just to the right (I have an iPad mini so I fill up the space quickly)
-Ability to add cards within a Scribble card
