Best sight reading trainer. Underrated app
I’ve had this app for a couple of years and there is never a moment it doesn’t get updated even for small things like bugs. The Devs work hard to make learning fun and enjoyable. I really appreciate that. Learning rhythm is hard and I struggled with it for years. This game takes away all the overthinking I do and teaches me starting from square one. The Devs are constantly adding fun little things that are game changers in my book, like the two hands game they just added. Very humbling. The only thing that I can possibly add to more is if they added a program where the metronome counted the rhythm that we press, exclusively and not just on the quarter notes. I think hearing someone count it out for them will definitely help. They had it in the beginning but took it out. I guess people were complaining. Also another good function would be some kind like reward system, where if we get enough points for perfect games, we could customize the app colors or something. Just throwing that out there. Other than that I love this app. I honestly play this whenever I get bored anywhere or anything. Keep up the good work Devs.
My only, disheartening, critique.
The app itself functions wonderfully, I use it every day and every day my Rhythm improves. I racked up a 50 day streak but today I was very busy. I got in bed at 11:56pm. And began practicing, I was hoping that because I started before midnight I would still be able to maintain my streak even though my 5 minutes of practice would expire one minute after midnight. Unfortunately, that was not the case, I lost my streak 😞. Obviously I’m still rating the app 5 out of 5 because it’s fantastic BUT I would love the possibility of paying to restore your streak if you are within 24 hours of losing it. Or if a function was added where, if you started your practice before midnight, you would still maintain your streak even if your practice time hasn’t elapsed before midnight strikes.
That’s it, great app, lots of fun, just a lil sad that I lost my streak 😂
Good for beginners, not useful for experienced people for free
This app is cool, I like it quite a lot. I tested out of the entire app though by getting a perfect score. It brings you to lesson 166. I did the lesson, but you’re only able to do listen and repeat and then reading. You have to pay to practice writing and whatever 2 hands is.
The infinite mode is fun, but it seems like everything is in 4/4. Also in the one 3/4 exercise I did in 166, there doesn’t seem to be an option to change it to a different hit on 1. Perhaps this is intentional to practice counting, but even DCI lines practice with delineated metronomes when they’re drilling stuff. The 10 minute limit is fine for the free version, it’s already limiting enough, idk why you’d charge $5 a month, it should just be a single charge.
Overall this is indeed a fun app and it’s cool, but if you already know how to read and you’re an experienced musician, you’ll run out of things to do on it instantly and the price point is way too steep to warrant a more fun way of practicing, especially since you can practice by charting music in something like Muse of Finale for free (which is how I taught myself to read music when I was a kid)
