Ratings and Reviews
It’s just ok
Nothing groundbreaking with this app. I wish the search would list results for the whole store, not just sales and recipes. Take a look at the Wegmans app. The app should search the store and inventory and tell you exactly where to locate any item in the store. I was looking for a particular item yesterday. I ended up going to ShopRite because I KNEW they had the item. I had no idea if Big Y did it not because the app doesn’t list everything.
Unintuitive and unhelpful
I usually go to Stop & Shop, near my gym and I use their app regularly to manage specials/coupons as and stuff to my running list of thing I’d like to remember to get. Now that the world has changed I’d like to go to the Big Y near my home, so I got and tried to use this app... which is virtually useless. The thing loads slowly, shows a small number of items from the flyer in each screen view (rather than a running list), and it’s not at all evident what, exactly, one needs to do to get those into a list. Also doesn't appear to support the ability to touch and ‘circle’ an item in the flyer view and have it placed in your list. No way to see what coupons are loaded, no way to see if they are on your list. It looks like you can have multiple lists, which would be great—if you could make them work. You can get the first page of the flyer, but impossible to get others, so not even useful for viewing weekly specials. I give up.
Where did the Senior Discount go?
I went to Big Y today not knowing they had eliminated the Senior Discount. I bought several items I could have waited to buy, but I figured time spent going to another store and gas would even out with the ten percent off. I was mistaken. Big Y is the most expensive store in the area and being Seniors live on a fixed income without the artificially increase on grocery prices cutting into Social Security. Being as most Seniors were raised in a culture where we pay our bills first then buy food,it is a shame you took that slight discount away. The young clerk said “They don’t want old people going out! I asked him Who do you think is raising the grandchildren and running errands? I was also charged full price for an item that they were touting as ten percent off? Is that new Math?
