I have trouble processing in general, I don’t think I spent less than hour on each lesson in the first 21 days…I paused it and wrote every word she said to help myself process, absorb, understand and participate as genuinely as possible. I knew this was what I needed & I dedicated time to it that was hard to find. I honestly only got to it every few days, but now that I’ve got a feel for it, I’m going to do the 21 days again and consecutively at a quicker pace. I learned so many tools that I use everyday to regulate myself. I have less fear and discombobulation when I face situations with high potential of challenges. I think my favorite tool was “I disconnect the physical sensations from the details of this memory” and I use the visualization when I start to get tension headaches thinking about potential difficulties/annoyances ahead based on my previous experiences with small kids chaos. It helps me look ahead objectively, without my mind getting into a bind, then I use “think, feel, choose” to approach it with agency and hope that I’ll handle it more grounded & present by choice. I also “imagine myself handling it calm, cool and under control” from another lesson. After 21 days, I’m on my way with more confidence and hope for my ability to be in control of myself and be who I want to be. This is teaching me how to be human. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it.

This app needs work. The Neurocycle concept is wonderful and my husband and I were very excited to get started but sadly it’s confusing to follow. Lots of information seems to be missing from each day and the steps, which leaves you searching the Resources for the answers. We don’t always find them or they don’t totally make sense. I believe that the Neurocycle process is valid but this app is very frustrating. My husband and are constantly wondering if we’re doing this correctly and consulting each other on how we proceeded with each day’s work. I’ve lost my progress from hitting the back button and it erased my answers and sent me back to the beginning, which was really discouraging. I’m afraid to explore the app out of fear I’ll reset my progress. I’ve emailed support for help but haven’t gotten any response. For a mental health app, it’s messy and lacks clarity. There needs to be more descriptive information for each day and steps. Hopefully Neurocycle can dial this in because I do believe it can really help you but I think people will have greater success using it if there’s more direction.

This app, along with all of Dr. Leaf’s knowledge on retraining your brain, is a great process and example of what the Word of God calls “renewing your mind.” It gentle takes you through the process of identifying the lies which people, experience, or the darker forces in this world have gripped your thinking, and therefore life, with. It slowly helps retrain your brain on the positive/truth as there is no quick fix for the problematic neuro-pathways. I’ve quite enjoyed and appreciated the mini-cycles also. As you spend the habit-forming time on one area of your brain there are other mental hinderances that will bubble up and need to be dealt with, so instead of waiting until one cycle is done you can deal with some of it in the short term until there is an opportunity to work through the longer process of renewal.I recommend this app and her books to so many of my recovery clients as well as people at my church since we all have brains that need renewing in one way or another. It is worth the time and effort - especially if you want a better life!
