Major app design overhaul! Fixed bugs! - The photo in the post page no longer "jitters" when you open it - The feed loads much faster - The app logs you out after a few months, instead of showing you a "dead" interface with nothing working

Big update! - Comment replies: You can now reply to other's comments on posts, and have meaningful conversations around a photo. - Loading speed: We've massively improved our backend handling of images, which means images now load much faster in the app!

A brand new onboarding flow has arrived! New users will be prompted to complete their profile by entering their username, profile picture, display name and location. Existing users who are just upgrading to this version will also go through the onboarding once. Other feature improvements: - The Following Feed is now fully functional. You can view posts from photographers you follow in reverse chronological order. No algorithm. - You can now define your location by searching for it! You can type any city, region and country around the world, and we will give you search results. Unique Usernames are here! You can now choose your own unique account username, and find other photographers by searching for theirs. We've assigned a username to the 8000 existing Newgrain accounts. To update your username, go to "Edit Profile" and then to "Username". This is a big step towards making it easier for users to discover photographers, and overall towards making Newgrain feel more social and engaging. In this update, we’ve made a few improvements to the app interface to make Newgrain easier to use! Feature Improvements: - We’ve moved the “Notifications” page (previously on the top right of the feed) to a standalone tab in the main navigation bar! We had noticed that a lot of users did not know it existed, so we’re now experimenting with this new position. - We’ve added timestamps (“yesterday”, “a week ago”…) to notifications, so you know when you’ve received them - We’ve moved the buttons to “My Gear” and “My Rolls” to the profile tab! New features: - If you haven’t saved a camera, lens, or scanner in My Gear yet, a little message will show up when creating a new post and selecting an item, encouraging you to do so! In this update, we introduce the Lens index! Now, when making a new post, you will choose from a list of lenses instead of typing it. If you don’t see your lens in the list, just add it by clicking the “+” on the top right of the screen, and we will take it as input to expand the index. We still have a lot of work to do to clean this index, as there are a lot of duplicates and lenses without any maker information. Also, My Gear with multiple elements is now fully running - just select your cameras, lenses, and scanners from the lists, and these will show at the top of the lists when making a new post! What’s Next: - We still have problems setting up the subscription for Newgrain Plus, but will try releasing the official subscription and paywall it as soon as we can.
