A ten frame with dots flashes on the screen (you can choose the number of seconds it appears on the screen).
Then the ten frame disappears.
Children need to choose the number of dots they saw in the ten frame.
They can’t count because the picture has disappeared.
This coaxes them to think of a number of objects in relation to five and ten.
This helps children to use strategies to learn basic facts.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade Teachers: Project Number Flash on a projector.
Have all the students answer with pencil and paper at their seats.

Good for many ages

Kids need to build automaticity to quickly recognize a number of objects in a group. This app provides a quick and fun way to practice "subitizing" and gain speed with math basics. You can target the numbers of objects you want to practice with. You can also adjust the time limits. I use this app frequently in my second grade classroom with small and large groups.
