Description
This app allows you to view and search the Tampa/Hillsborough County Public Library's collection of photos of the Tampa, Florida area photographed by the Burgert Brothers Photography Company from the 1890s [copies of earlier photos] until 1970. The collection has 14,228 images. A tap on a photo thumbnail will produce a larger image accompanied by a date, and description of the photo. While viewing the photo, you may download a copy or share the photo and accompanying information via email.
Another option is to view a slide show of the images. While viewing the slide show, you may again download a copy or share an image via email.
To search the entire collection for a word or a phrase (not a collection of words), you simply enter the phrase in the search box.
Finally, you may contact the library to purchase an enlarged copy by pressing the Order button. All the purchase price goes to the library and none to the author of this app.

Version 2.1
The photos to be viewed are now twice as large in each dimension. So the downloaded photos will be four times the size of previous ones.
Ratings and Reviews
Could be interesting and useful IF …..
The photo descriptions overlap each other which makes them illegible and useless.
The photo thumbnails don’t scale to a useful size, and if “zoomed” in on, become totally useless and unviewable.
The atrociousness of the absolute failure of this app and it’s relationship with the “public library” reflects poorly on the credibility and efficacy of the Library system. But is typical of any government agency, “implement” and ignore!
Pictures
The pictures are thumbnails plus the names of the pictures overlap each other big time so you’re not sure what you’re clicking on.
