I updated my auto door to the smart door right away after it was available. I have been extremely happy with it since. I do not use it on my coops and still use the standard Omlet auto door on a timed setting, but I use this for my run and have it set to manual open/close. I prefer to keep my girls in their run in the mornings for laying since they find random places to lay on my property if out and about. I can then open the door from the app in the afternoons, after most have layed, while I’m at work to let them out for free ranging and close it if I’m getting home late when it’s after dark. I’ve had no buggy app issues as others have stated and I have no WiFi issues either. So far it’s been great and works exactly as how I hoped it would.

I never really review anything in the app store but some of the reviews and ratings here are kinda bogus or old. My coop door and light work well and can be easily administered via the app remotely. I appreciate the graphs under the technical details section for my device and the ability to install batteries as a contingency. My only recommendations would be to allow the user to adjust the amount of resistance required to trigger auto-stop in software and to enhance the technical details view with more granular data. Maybe even just to create a separate page titled “reports” where several variables over adjustable time frames can be reported on or even exported for more advanced usage cases. I love the cute GUI and have had no issues with the functionality of the app. I’m impressed with the wifi NIC’s signal reception in my product as well. Thanks, Omlet!

This app remains incredibly buggy. For example, now one can zoom in on the light sensor history but it only shows two hours of history (not very useful) despite the app claiming it shows 24 hours. The readings are also inconsistent with it skipping multiple hours sometimes between taking a reading. The light sensor never outputs a value below 14 even in total darkness. The app sometimes loses sync with the control panel and the device must be removed and readded because it does not resync on its own once it gets in this state despite a constant WiFi connection. The system does not behave as the settings indicate - for instance I used the app in “time” mode to close the door at 9 pm with the light set to go on five minutes before door closure, and yet the app informed me that it turned the light on at 7:30 pm - 90 minutes in advance. I am a professional software engineer but cannot form any coherent mental model of what this app is doing it is so full of bugs.

I bought this door because I don’t live on the property where my chickens are. I had to have a door I could control from my phone. I’ve had this for a year and it has been the best purchase of my whole coop. It has some small issues in the beginning, but the company has worked those out. I would recommend this to everyone. Customer service was fantastic too.
