Some time ago, the credo of most establishments was ‘service with a smile’ I’ve been bewildered today wondering why this has disappeared from so many interactions. If my recollection serves me right, I think I began my first checking account with PCB in 1973 as a High School senior. Richard Homan was the President then. Bill Loving is President now. I’ve banked with PCB ever since 1973. Thankfully. The bank has branches throughout the entire region, maybe 10-15 at least. I now reside in Harrisonburg, VA. I’m now relegated to a wheelchair. Recently, I went to the PCB branch in South Main Street (So. rte 11) to cash a check. My return ride was late returning and the branch closed at 12 noon on Saturday. I had to wait outside for my ride. One of the bank employees, I think, Ms. Dion, insisted on staying with me to assure my safe pickup. We may have waited for 20-30 minutes. After a pleasant conversation, my ride showed up. She departed as well. Again, as I reflected on this, I was reminded of the personal interaction that PCB has graciously extended to me and I’m sure countless others thru-out the years. “Service with a Smile” is alive and well at PCB!
