Almost there

The game has a lot of potential of the fun of collecting cards, trading, and battling with Pokemon. I think my biggest complaint is currently the lack of any animation or sound effect when pulling a rare card. This is a missed opportunity to let the player know they pulled something exciting or rare, making the pack opening (the main compelling feature of this app) even more exciting. Look at other games in the similar space such as Hearthstone, and how the pack opening process is exciting because of animations and sound queues correlating to the varying rarities of the cards. When I opened a golden Charizard full art card, I thought it was pretty cool but it did not have as huge of an impact on me as it probably should have, as it is one of the rarest cards currently available. I did not realize this until I started looking at the odds of the Pokemon cards, and I feel like with the correct animation and sound queues I could have known how rare that card is based on that reaction alone.

Disappointing

This is a game where you open booster packs, make decks and battle with them. As simple as this concept seems, the truth of the matter is that all you really do is battle for almost no rewards. You're able to open ONE PACK every TWELVE HOURS, which gives you 5 cards to *potentially* add to your deck. Their in-game currency are hourglasses, where every one hourglass takes an hour off the time for you to open another pack. So you need 12 hourglasses to open one pack if you want to open two at once with a daily pull. In the beginning you're rewarded with quite a few hourglasses to get you hooked, but very soon after you start to run out and your only option is to battle for 1-3 hourglasses per win or pay up.
Possibly the worst issue of them all is the coin flipping RNG. The game seems to dictate how well your coin flips perform based on your win percentage. if you're on a win-streak, your coin flips get worse and worse to the point that you will almost never see heads until you lose.

For a game that relies on opening cards and battling with them, it does neither one very well. There's only one expansion set that you can open cards from, it will take you MONTHS to make well-rounded decks unless you plan on spending money, and the only other feature you're offered is to battle with what mediocre cards you've collected for almost nothing in return.
