Potentially
Pass notes with your clique
Only for iPhone
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
The paper feels more real: writing sits on the ruled lines, settled polls get a hand-drawn red circle around the winner, and finished notes can be put away.
Potentially is how your group actually decides things - by passing notes, not arguing in the group chat.
Fold a note, toss it on the desk, and your clique pulls it open to answer. Where are we going tonight? Who's actually coming? Pizza or tacos? Everyone marks the same page - in their own pen - and it comes back covered in everyone's handwriting, not a sterile bar chart.
PASS A NOTE
- Write a question, add choices, send it to your clique
- Notes arrive folded on your desk - pull them open to read
- Pick one, or pick several and star your favorite
KEEP IT FUN (AND FAIR)
- Blind notes stay sealed until you add your answer - no peeking, no bandwagon
- Or go Live and watch the answers roll in
- Set a deadline and Potentially stamps the winner when time's up - then hands you a Google Calendar invite for the plan
FIND A TIME
- Share your availability with a clique - busy times only, never what you're doing
- Potentially suggests the best slots: everyone free, or the most who can make it
- Vote with stars, settle it, and put the winner on everyone's calendar in one tap
- Works with the calendars already on your phone - Google, iCloud, Outlook
NEVER MISS A NOTE (NEW)
- Get a notification the moment someone passes a note to your clique
- Tap the banner and the note opens, ready to answer
- Too chatty? Mute any clique's pings with one tap
MAKE IT YOURS
- Your own pen color and signature doodle on every answer
- Private cliques with invite links you can send anywhere - Messages, WhatsApp, wherever
- A hand-drawn desk where unanswered notes sit until you deal with them
No ads. No noise. Just your people, passing notes.
more - IMPROVED - The vote tally is now marked in the same red pen that circles the winner and scrawls "Settled" - one hand grades the page.
- FIXED - Tally marks now sit on the ruled line with the option names instead of floating above it.
2.3.1 2d ago
Finding a time together just got easier to say yes to.
- NEW - When you create or join a clique, Potentially now asks right then if you want to share your busy times with it - one tap covers both the phone permission and the clique's switch. (Friends only ever see WHEN you're busy - never event names, places, or details.)
- NEW - Say yes once and you can choose to share with new cliques automatically. Or keep it ask-every-time - your call.
- NEW - Find a time now tells you when your own calendar isn't being counted, with a one-tap fix right on the page.
- As always: sharing is OFF until you say yes, and any clique can be switched off any time in Calendars & availability.
2.3 4d ago
One small fix on the settled page:
- FIXED - The red circle around the winner sits cleanly around the words again. (2.2.1's smoother circle had drifted upward and covered the tops of option names.)
2.2.2 5d ago
Quick polish on the new paper:
- IMPROVED - The ruled lines now run evenly down the whole page, and every line of writing sits right on its line - no more odd gaps.
- IMPROVED - The red circle around the winner is drawn in one smooth stroke now, the way a quick hand actually circles something.
- FIXED - "1 votes" is now "1 vote."
2.2.1 6d ago
The paper got more real.
- NEW - The writing finally sits ON the ruled lines. Questions, answers, and replies all land on the paper's rules, the way a note actually looks.
- NEW - Put it away: not every note needs a winner. Slide a finished note off your desk with no stamp and no verdict - it stays in the drawer if you ever want it back.
- NEW - When a poll settles, the winner gets a wobbly red circle drawn right on the tally, and a handwritten "Settled" in red pen - the rubber stamp is retired.
- IMPROVED - The "add the plan to Google Calendar" button now only appears on polls that look like plans. Settling a just-for-fun poll shows the winner and nothing else.
- IMPROVED - A small caption under "Copy link" explains why a pasted invite looks plainer than one sent with the Send button. (Same link, works the same.)
2.2 Jul 17
Sometimes there's nothing to vote on - you just have something to say.
- NEW - Just a note: pass a note with no voting at all. Flip the switch in the composer, write your words, and toss it on the clique's desk.
- NEW - Scribbled replies: friends can write back on your note in their own pen. Every reply lands on one shared page, in everyone's own handwriting.
- NEW - Blind works here too: seal a note so nobody sees the replies until they've written their own. Honest takes, no bandwagon.
- IMPROVED - A plain note stops waiting on you once you've read it. Replying is welcome, never owed.
- FIXED - The sealed page's "no peeking" icon now draws properly on every device.
2.1 Jul 16
A few fixes from the first week of private cliques:
- NEW - The app's mark is now the wax seal it presses on your notes - on the icon, and on anything you share. (The heart was a holdover from the app this one grew out of.)
- FIXED - Invites now send as proper iCloud invitation cards in Messages, and the card says which clique you're being asked to join instead of just showing its name.
- FIXED - Sharing a note no longer sends a preview card AND a text bubble saying the same thing. The card says it all.
- FIXED - Joining a clique no longer tosses a note onto your desk that you can't open. It now just says welcome.
- FIXED - Calendars & Availability no longer shows a scary "failed: You're not in this clique" after updating from 1.x. Old cliques left behind by the 2.0 switch are now cleaned out of your sharing list automatically.
2.0.1 Jul 16
Potentially 2.0: your cliques are now truly private.
Every clique is now a private space in its creator's iCloud, protected by Apple's own sharing - the same system behind shared photo albums. Only invited people can see inside. Not "private" as a promise - private as a fact.
- NEW - Real invitations: invite links are now private iCloud invitations. Tap, accept, you're in - and nobody without one can read a thing.
- NEW - The creator holds the keys: remove someone from your clique with a swipe.
- NEW - Lock your clique: once everyone's in, switch the invite link off. Nobody new gets in, even with the link.
- NEW - "Who's in" now shows everyone who holds a key - even someone who joined and never picked a name.
- NEW - Your cliques follow your Apple ID: new phone or reinstall, they come back on their own.
ONE-TIME HEADS UP: cliques made in earlier versions ran on the old system and can't be carried over. Create your clique again and send fresh invite links - it takes a minute, and this time the walls are real.
2.0 Jul 15
- FIXED - "...or open in Google Calendar" on a settled plan now carries the plan's real length. A 5-8 PM hangout books as 5-8 PM, not 5-6. ("Add to my calendar" was always right - now both paths agree.)
- FIXED - Settled plans with a date but no time picked now land in Google Calendar as all-day events, just like they do on Apple calendars.
- FIXED - When a poll with suggested times settles on a written-in option like "None of these work", the calendar button no longer appears. A declined plan is not an event.
1.10 Jul 14
Locations you can tap, and reinstalls that behave.
- NEW - The Location field suggests real places as you type, straight from Apple Maps. Pick one and the full address rides along - so when the plan settles, the event on everyone's calendar opens the spot in Maps with a tap.
- FIXED - Reinstalled the app? The "Welcome back" clique restore no longer vanishes behind the first-run screens - it waits its turn and shows up when you're ready. (Your cliques were always safe under Manage cliques - Restore; now the shortcut works too.)
- FIXED - After a reinstall, notes you had already opened and answered no longer come back looking sealed.
1.9 Jul 10
Settled plans finally book like real events.
- NEW - Give your plan a proper calendar listing: once a poll has dates, add an event name and a location while composing. The winner lands on calendars as "Golf" at "Brownson Country Club" - not your question word-for-word with a blank location.
- NEW - The results page shows the plan's name and place under the winner, so everyone sees where it's happening at a glance.
- IMPROVED - Find a time no longer insists on two suggested slots: pick just one time and type the other choices yourself.
- Leave the fields blank and everything works exactly as before.
1.8 Jul 9
Your own notes stop nagging you, and Find a time shows its work.
- NEW - "More times this day": every suggested slot now has an expander listing that day's OTHER open windows, so seeing 5-6 PM no longer hides that 6-7 works too.
- NEW - My hours: set the earliest and latest you're up for plans, and outside those hours you simply count as busy. No more showing "free" at 11 PM because your calendar was empty. Friends only ever see "busy" - never why.
- IMPROVED - Your own notes no longer sit pinned as waiting on YOU. A gentle "add your answer?" replaces the pushpin - vote in your own poll only if you want to.
- IMPROVED - Blind notes now let their creator peek at incoming answers without voting. The seal still protects everyone else from bandwagoning - it guards responders, not the author.
1.7 Jul 7
Nicer links, smarter answers, and a way back in.
- NEW - Share links got friendly: sending a note or an invite now shares a real, tappable link with a proper preview. Old links keep working.
- NEW - Forwarded note links no longer quietly add whoever taps them to your clique. Anyone with the link can read the note, but joining is an explicit "Join to answer" tap.
- NEW - Reinstalled the app? "Welcome back" finds the cliques you were in and rejoins them in one tap (also under Manage cliques - Restore).
- NEW - Timed poll choices now carry a length: set "How long" once and the winning plan lands on calendars with a real start AND end.
- IMPROVED - Updating your answer now shows what you saved before, plus a one-tap "Start over" - no more stale ticks sneaking into the tally.
- FIXED - Removing your star now actually removes it from the results.
1.6 Jul 5
Your clique just got a lot louder (in a good way).
- NEW - Potentially finally taps you on the shoulder: get a notification when someone passes a note to your clique. Tap it to open the note.
- NEW - Mute any clique's new-note pings with the bell in Manage cliques (we know who you are, Potential Spam).
- NEW - Find a time, your way: pick which days of the week count (Fridays and Saturdays only? done) and how far out to look - next week, two weeks, or a month.
- NEW - Every poll choice can carry a real date: tap the little calendar on any option row. Dated choices show who's free as you type, and the winner can land on everyone's calendar.
- NEW - No time fits everyone? You'll see the closest options instead of an empty screen.
- NEW - Nudge your clique to refresh their calendars when availability looks stale.
- IMPROVED - Availability now looks five weeks ahead.
1.5 Jul 4
Your clique can now find a time - together.
- NEW - Share your availability with a clique: busy times only, never event names or details. Works with the calendars already on your phone (Google, iCloud, Outlook).
- NEW - "Find a time" suggests the best hangout slots: when everyone's free, or when most can make it. One tap turns your picks into a poll.
- NEW - Star-weighted winners: every vote is a point, every star adds half. Enthusiasm counts, and the math is written right on the page.
- NEW - "Settle now": wrote a poll and everyone's answered? Close the vote early and stamp the winner.
- NEW - One-tap "Add to my calendar" for the winning time - it lands on the calendar you pick per clique (Google calendars sync up automatically).
- NEW - Notification check: a health screen (in the menu) that tests every link in the notification chain and can repair it on the spot.
- FIXED - The clique menu no longer jumps back to the top while you scroll it. Sorry, power users with lots of cliques.
1.4 Jul 3
Passing notes, now with better manners.
• Notifications actually notify — you'll get pinged when a friend answers
your note (and when they change their mind), even if you're in the app.
• Fixed the address on folded notes: notes you send now read
"To: your clique / From: You" instead of your name on both lines.
• Folded notes are now sealed with a proper wax seal, stamped with a P.
• New notes land on the desk the way they should: everyone slides down,
and the new note drops into first position. Satisfying thump included.
• Poll results are now penciled in before your eyes, tally mark by
tally mark.
• Two friends with the same name are no longer treated as the same
person — blocking one won't hide the other, and their notes won't
get mixed up with yours.
• Under-the-hood reliability fixes so busy cliques never lose notes
or votes.
1.3 Jul 2
• Fixed a bug where you couldn't reach the write-in box on notes with lots of options — the note now scrolls.
• Tapping a choice is more reliable — you can tap anywhere on the row, not just the little box.
• Minor polish.
1.2 Jul 1
• Notifications: get a ping when a friend answers a note you posted.
• New Corkboard look — switch between the classroom desk and a corkboard in the menu.
• The pencil is clearer now: tap it (top-right, or the one on the desk) to start a note.
• Cleaner results: votes show as a tidy tally with the winner starred.
• Share results: post a picture of the poll straight into Messages, WhatsApp, anywhere.
1.1 Jul 1
- IMPROVED - The vote tally is now marked in the same red pen that circles the winner and scrawls "Settled" - one hand grades the page.
- FIXED - Tally marks now sit on the ruled line with the option names instead of floating above it.
