Like olden days, but poor controller support

I played Prince of Persia back in the day on my Apple //, and was excited to see this that I bought it right away - not noticing that it did not state controller support. Well, controller support is there indeed, but only for specific PS4 and Xbox One + controllers - NOT for MFI controllers, ones made to work with Apple’s platforms. It was disappointing to me that after Apple has provided for YEARS now support for a fair amount of controllers, there are still apps that do not make an attempt to support this way. My 8BitDo Pro 2, supported in so many instances, is NOT supported here. Get this fixed Ubisoft, this should never have been an issue….

Controller connection

****So I got the controller to work. UBI Support page for connection and performance says it supports the Dual Sense Edge controller. The Dual Sense Edge does not work, But the regular Dual Sense works****. ORIGINAL Review: The UBISoft support page for connections states that this game supports controllers on MAC, but there isn’t a way in game to select or use a controller. Also the APP store here doesn’t show that a controller is supported… Maybe there will be an update?

Fantastic Game, But Wait To Buy (Buggy Port)

This is a GREAT game and one I would highly recommend. However, in its current state I would recommend waiting or purchasing it on another platform.

The Mac App Store version not only lacks the DLC and has a 60fps cap (seemingly with some form of vsync enable which results in stutters), neither issue of which is too big of a deal, but also has some very bizarre bugs.

I am currently unable to finish the game, as when I select “Retry” after dying to the final boss, upon my subsequent attempt, the boss locks up between phases (after destroying the orb, the boss freezes mid animation and then vanishes leaving only a hatbox) leaving me forced to jump around the arena aimlessly or just exit to the main menu and try again.

Considering there is a sequence of cutscenes and some platforming to get here, and there are four phases, this is extremely frustrating.

These kinds of bugs on the critical path of the game should not still be present at full price. You can buy it on discount elsewhere. Which is a pity, because this is a game worth its full price otherwise.
