Prism Music 4+

Prism is by far the best audio client available on iOS for Plex users. I genuinely appreciate the ability to download whole artist discographies, specific albums or my entire library without arbitrary limits (looking at you, Plexamp). Downloads are also apart of the library itself rather than split off into a separate UI which makes it seamless to play music regardless of your connection.

The user interface fits in really well with the iOS design and is pleasant to use and interact with. With Jellyfin and subsonic support coming in a future release, Prism will soon become the go-to audio client for all self-hosters.

Thank you Lachlan for building a great app the community can benefit from. One feature request I have would be to add in playback stats. Plexamp can do this with Plex but could be a private API. Hopefully with Jellyfin support, this could become a possibility.

I found this app while searching for an alternative to Plexamp, after really butting heads with its limitations. I was already a user of the Prologue app, so it was an easy choice to try another app of similar design flow by the same dev, and I am very happy with the transition. Much more flexibility in displaying and filtering through my music library, and much better handling of downloads as well. The only thing I seem to be missing is the ability to toggle shuffle while already in the middle of playing a track (say, from a playlist or album), rather than only having it as an option when originally starting to play from the playlist/album. Sometimes I want to shuffle but know which song I want to listen to first, but the only workaround [Shuffle Playlist > Find desired song > Play Next > Next song > Find previous song that came up first on shuffle that now you still want to listen to > Play Next] is so clunky. The only other app I’ve ever seen missing this feature is SoundCloud and even they added the relatively basic feature in. I would consider re-rating to 5 stars if this feature was added in a future update. Other features that would be nice to haves: - Ability to remove songs from queue by swipe action to avoid having to accidentally play a song and ruin all the work you did to line up a good queue before a workout/shower/etc. - Ability to switch to see play history when looking at queue below the now playing screen
- Sleep timer

This is now the only music app used on my iPhone. Streaming my Plex library of flac files sounds incredible in my car. So far I have had only a single instance of connectivity issues, and that was caused by my cable provider. Otherwise no buffering whatsoever. The only playback issue that I would hope to see improvement on is that the app doesn’t always remember where I was when listening to my entire library on shuffle, but to me that’s a very minor problem. The presentation of the album art and track info is gorgeous, and my only other wish would be that the text in dark mode would be changed to all white, the gray used there is a bit hard to read. Other than that, I’m thrilled to have found this app. Kudos to the developers, really well done!
