Description

The Red Clan orcs have grown bolder

Endless RPG is a random dungeon and adventure generator for 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons and 1st Edition Pathfinder roleplaying games.

The Random Dungeon Generator is not a game. It is is a tool for playing tabletop pen-and-paper role-playing games (TTRPG). Endless RPG allows you to play supported TTRPGs alone, in a small group without a dungeon master, or with a dungeon master as either a standalone adventure or an easy way to get into the game.

*** D&D 5TH EDITION OR PATHFINDER 1E ***

The two most popular tabletop roleplaying systems are supported including the most popular monsters, enemies and beasts. Endless RPG uses its own approach to overcoming obstacles such as locked or blocked doors, sealed chests or dangerous traps. These mechanics make use of various character skills and scale for both systems, so traps in D&D 5e will have discipline checks appropriate for that system while Pathfinder 1e traps are tuned for Pathfinder.

*** PLAY SOLO OR IN A GROUP WITHOUT A DM ***

The Random Dungeon Generator allows you to explore a randomly generated map through a fog-of-war discovery system with encounters, traps, tricks, and treasures displayed as you encounter them. This is perfect for solo play or groups without a dungeon master as you will get no hints of what is behind the next door. (Unless you cast Clairvoyance!)

Custom Dungeons allow you to pick the CR level, environment (dungeon, cave, etc.), primary and secondary enemies (orcs, undead, demons, etc.), and an overall difficulty level. You can also choose Quick Mission for a random location and enemy group.

*** MULTIPLE MAP TYPES AND THEMES***

It's not just dungeons! You can go on an adventure within a stronghold, tower, crypt, cave or the ever-popular dungeon. You can also choose from various map themes, so you can turn that dungeon into a jail, that tower into a sorcerer's lair or perhaps explore an unholy cave.

Some map types can even alter what you find. For example, the lair is a special type of cave that features fewer and easier encounters ending in a higher difficulty 'boss' encounter.

*** QUICK BATTLE AND BATTLE MAPS FOR COMBAT MANAGEMENT***

While Endless RPG is not intended to replace your favorite combat management app, it does have a few management tools in place to use as aids. The app will help keep track of hit points at all times while you are adventuring. When dealing with encounters, you can also choose to use a Quick Combat screen, which tracks initiative and hit points or all combatants, or a Battle Map, which also tracks where combatants are in relation to each other.

*** SUPPORTS UP TO 8 CHARACTERS ***

Players can run through the dungeon as a single character or a party of up to eight characters. A "character" can also include guard dogs, guard bears, or other non-standard creatures. To make things easy, the system helps balance larger parties to the challenge rating by boosting encounters for parties with more than four characters. This means you don't need to juggle CR math.

*** ENDLESS RPG FEATURES ***

* Create random dungeons, caves, ruins, crypts, tombs, strongholds, keeps
* Map themes help define the type of map with 40 unique combinations allowing you to create a webbed cave, unholy stronghold, mystic tower, military keep, dungeon jail, etc.

It is what it says it is...

This app does everything it says it will. With that being said, it would be nice to add some variables such as bigger or smaller rooms, but it is random. The selections are for dungeons, do not expect an outdoor area. Yes you can send the map by email, however the bigger the map, the less pixel quality it maintains. Generally this app is pretty good. If you could create a section where the DM could add or remove from the map, that would make this the best app available. I’m glad you added the auto-assign for new characters. This makes the random dungeon creator pop-up automatically.

Well worth the price (for weird people like me)

I didn’t have very high expectations of this app. I’d never heard of it before finding it in the App Store, but in a most uncharacteristic fashion I decided to give it a chance. I set the bar pretty low: if this app could amuse me for at least an hour, it would have been worth $2.00. It exceeded my expectations.

There are already plenty of fully automated RPG videogames on the market. If you want one of those, I don’t know how you ended up here, because statistically speaking, it’s unbelievably improbable. This app isn’t for you though, literally thousands of other apps are.

If you’re a tabletop RPG addict who is away from his RPing paraphernalia, armed with nothing but a smartphone, but reeeaalllyyy wants a way to satiate your craving to roll dice, use rulebooks, and write on a character sheet, even if you’re all alone, then this app is like instant coffee to a coffee drinker. Yes, you’d prefer Starbucks, but caffeine is caffeine.

To that end, you’ll also need a rule book app or pdf, a dice rolling app, and a character sheet app, which I already have. Moreover troubled individuals may not need a character sheet to know all of their stats... I think I have a problem.

I’m going to stop typing now so I can go back to killing imaginary skeletons and talking to people who don’t exist. At least I don’t have to make up the dungeon layouts and come up with encounters by myself anymore though.

Good for what it is!

Listen, if you thought this was a game in and of itself, it’s not. This lovely beast is a means by which people can play them some Tabletop RPG (you need paper and dice) without needing someone to run it (DM or GM depending on how you consume this type of game). You have to build your own character! That said, this little monkey is brilliant at setting up a random dungeon that everyone could play and, if you have Apple TV and a projector, everyone could see. While I still like being a DM, this might do for a night off. Would still like to see the ability to scroll the map without moving the character. Otherwise, too marks!
