Love this app. Reliable and has the best drivers. Always fun to ride with one. They were here when Uber and Lyft left as they couldn't get their way with the city. RideAustin is truly Austin and gives back to the city through donations etc. The rates might be a little higher than Uber but that's because they pay their drivers better whereas Uber and all pay less than peanuts and only get away with because of the market they have captured. Just ask any driver. I'd rather ride with RideAustin knowing that the drivers are happy with the ride as well. And it shows in the way they talk and drive you around the city.
Really disappointed in the Ride Austin team. I used the Ride Austin app back in 2016. Was a little clunky because it was new, but it was the only option at that time. Fast forward to February of 2019 and I see a Ride Austin charge come through my bank account. I reach out to the Ride Austin asking them what gives. And they tell me I had a charge that did not go through back in 2016...yes 2016! I said I had three other charges go through at the same time after I reviewed with my bank, so how do I know this one didn't go through? They sent me a screen shot of their system showing it didn't go through. At this point its not even about the amount of the charge (it was pretty small), its the principal and business practice of charging someone from 2.5 years ago when you made the mistake and never reached out and explained the situation before running a charge that was sure to make me ask the question. At this point, you should have just let it go. When I come to Austin, I wont use Ride Austin
App only works with wifi?
This was my first experience using any kind of ride service, and I chose Ride Austin because of the background checks and history of the company. I got to the airport and the app wouldn't work unless I connected to the wifi network. Luckily Austin's is free at the airport, but when I stepped outside to catch my ride the wifi didn't reach and the app stopped working. I had 5 bars and LTE and plenty of data. Not sure why it won't work over cell service internet - is this normal? Luckily my driver called me and told me even though the ride disconnected, she could still come get me. The service from Cortrina was excellent! But seems like to be competitive Ride Austin needs to be accessible through cell data as well as wifi.
Developer Response ,
Hi most of our riders are using cellular. Can you check Settings > Mobile Data and look for RideAustin? Make sure that is on.
Thanks for using Rideaustin!
