Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

This app is fine for usability in most ways, but it gets very annoying when trying to message an individual in a large group. You can look at the full list of names and scroll to find your person, but you cannot search that list of names. Also the list is not arranged alphabetically. I’ve had to go on scrolling hunts way too many times.TLDR: please add the ability to search for individuals in a group message.
Great app tbh but also a suggestion

I love Signal and have been using it for a while now. However, there is one thing that has been bothering me: I would like to suggest that we be able to add an account with a different phone number within the same app. Currently, you have to delete your existing account before registering with a different number. I hope you consider my request. Thank you!
Buggy at Times

The app seems to work well most of the time. It will launch fine. But often times the messages are delayed when sending. Judging by the delivery check marks in the word bubbles, messages at times take 20 minutes to reach the sender who I am in an active conversation with. Messages will reach them instantly, the suddenly they are taking 2,3,10 up to 20 minutes to reach them when neither of us are in a different location than when the messaging started.
Update Regularly
Disengage or Die
This app has, by far, surpassed any other discreet/secure messaging (for free) that I’ve ever heard of. I’m a huge fan of the Proton group, so I openly recommend it, but first, I always, always insist on Signal. I’ve used it for years, and the only problems I’ve ever had (MAYBE twice) were my own failing to update the app to enable continuity of it being secure. Highly recommend, and already recommend to anyone I actually want to communicate with.
• Group admins can now bring chats to their natural conclusion with the new "End Group" option in group settings. Ending a group prevents group members from sending messages or starting calls, and also disables invites. Now you can make sure everyone stays on the right thread by ending last year's sewing meetup group before stitching a new one together.
