SimpleBills was created in 2008 when two roommates couldn’t stop arguing over their utility bill. One guy would always end up paying the bill, while the other took forever to reimburse him. After figuring there had to be an easier way to manage utilities, they created a complete utility management company that handles communication with utility providers and keeps all utilities in one place. I moved into my apartment about month ago and I had no problems with simple bills at the time. I set up my account and waited for the first bill. I received an email on September 10 that my first bill was due and paid it off immediately. I was shocked that it was an $60 payment to use the app but didn't complain. Today on September 25, I received an email that my payment was declined and I had an $5.50 late payment fee. I called the customer service number and complained that I received an email that my payment was declined 15 days after I submitted my payment. The lady I talked to said there is nothing I can do because it took some time process. She said that my account wasn't able to be found. She wasn't able to take the payment off my account and wasn't any help. It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to fix my account.

The name simple bills must have been chosen ironically because this company and app are not simple at all. Nothing but a headache and frustration. They make you use their electricity and “link” your other utilities but the other utilities never actually show up on your dashboard, just their electricity and when you try to resolve the issue by calling them they claim it’s your fault and to just pay it. NOT WORTH THE HASSLE OR MONEY
Subpar company, does not communicate effectively. Will also try to tell you when you’re moving out instead of letting you tell them. And for some reason, they still charge a high service fee.
