I’ve used a SmartDrive MX2+ for a couple of years and have an E2 watch. Using an Apple Watch 7 is a big improvement in some ways but not all. Setup is Apple smooth and battery life and visual interface are excellent. Tap interface, not so much. It sometimes takes half a dozen double tap tries to get going—even though the watch vibrates—and worse, a couple of double tap tries to stop. A definite safety problem and one I’ve never had with the E2. I’ve learned to tap “stop” and switch to manual well before my destination. I’m an experienced tapper and have no such issue with my E2 so don’t think I’m the problem. I’ll keep trying and hope a fix is possible as using an Apple Watch is such an appealing idea.

What reviewer Apjret said two years ago! In the learning tool, I try to get the hang of doing the double tap in a way that it will detect but even with lots of practice, it’s hit or miss. They need to change the sensitivity. Especially given that the app turns off frequently after a short time (another bug)… it’s maybe 100 times more likely to miss a double tap, than detect one that wasn’t intentional so the sensitivity should definitely be adjusted way up!!!!!!!¡!¡iADVICE: THE APP MUST BE INSTALLED from the App Store ON THE WATCH. At least this is the case if you got a new watch. It CANNOT be installed using the App Store on iPhone or the watch app on iPhone. THIS IS NOT DOCUMENTED ANYWHERE ON THE WEBSITE AND APPLE SUPPORT IS NOT AWARE OF THIS EITHER. IF YOU CAN’T FIX THIS, AT LEAST DOCUMENT IT.

I’ve had the Apple App for over 2 years, but haven’t had to use it since I installed the Speed Control Dial. My controller stopped working last night and I was left stranded. I tried to use the app on my watch but it was no longer available on my watch or my phone. When I searched the App Store, I can see the app listed but I can’t do anything with it. I can see that the app was Purchased, but it doesn’t allow me to do anything but forward the 4 screenshots provided by the manufacturer when they uploaded the app to the store.Not having a way to operate the SmartDrive is not only frustrating, it’s unacceptable. Customers pay a pretty penny for this unit, we deserve a usable app or switches that won’t leave us stranded.
