Purpose built annotation for theatre sound. Mark up your script, run your show, focus on the mix. General annotation apps weren't built for theatre sound departments - so this one was. Sound Script gives you the markup tools you actually use at the console, right on your script. MARKUP TOOLS DCA Assignments: Mark DCA assignments right where they happen in the script. Choose from plain or circled numbers. Independent On and Off layers let you mark mute moments separately from mic-on moments. Console Cues: Place and number your console cues directly on the script. Choose from sequential, page-based, or custom labels - type your own (Q101, A1S3, whatever your show calls them). SFX Cues: A separate cue track for your QLab or playback system, independent of your console cues. Cue Links: Draw lines or brackets from cues to their go-points. Or drop a break line just below the cue. All linked to their parent. Verb Levels: Mark reverb in and out points, or level changes as needed. Band Levels: Place fader level markers on the page to show where band levels change. Pair with symbols to show swells, fades and other movements. Highlights: Colour-mark dialogue, lyrics, or stage directions so they stand out at a glance. Useful for tracking your own lines of interest through a dense script. Cover: Hide stage directions, scene notes, or anything else you don't want on the page. Lockable, so once you've covered what you want hidden you can carry on annotating without nudging them around. Notes: Add floating text notes for reminders, warnings, or operator instructions. Choose between plain text or boxed notes depending on how much you need them to stand out. Flags: Drop colour-coded markers at key moments in the script. After a rehearsal or show, open the Flags list to jump straight back to every point you flagged. Perfect for tracking notes from the director, things to check, or moments that need attention. Shapes: Frame, group, or point to content on the page with rectangles, circles, lines, arrows and brackets. Symbols: Place common symbols directly onto the script, including standby and go markers, mic kills, swell and fade arrows. Freehand Drawing: Sketch, underline, write, or scribble anywhere on the page. Choose from thin, medium or thick stroke widths, and use the eraser to clean up. SHOW MODE When it's showtime, switch to Show Mode for a clean, full-screen performance view. Editing tools are hidden so there's nothing to accidentally tap during a show. A small indicator at the bottom of the page shows the next cue on the following page so you always know what's coming. Quick flags and freehand drawing remain available for live notes during the performance. Turn pages by swipe, arrow keys, Bluetooth or MIDI controllers. MIDI PAGE TURNING Assign any MIDI note to page forward and back using the built-in Learn function. Connect a foot pedal, a spare button on your console, or any MIDI controller and keep your hands on the desk where they belong. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS Connect a hardware keyboard for single-key tool switching, DCA chip toggles, and ⌘Z undo/redo. Full shortcut list in Settings. SMART PLACEMENT Annotations snap-align to nearby items as you place and drag them, keeping your markup clean and consistent without slowing you down. Adjust snap sensitivity in settings or turn it off entirely from the toolbar. EXPORT Export a CSV cue list to share with your team, or export your fully annotated script as a baked PDF. CUSTOMISATION Set default colours for every tool to match your personal markup style. Adjust note font sizes and DCA display style. Choose continuous scroll or page-turn view. Set the page your script body starts on so cue numbers and the scrubber align to your pages. Tell the app whether you're working with Apple Pencil or your finger so stamps land exactly where you want them. Sound Script adapts to the way you already work. iCLOUD SYNC Your annotated scripts sync across your devices via iCloud. Mark up on one iPad, open on another. V1.1 - A bigger toolkit, smoother to use. NEW MARKUP TOOLS • Custom Cue Labels. Type your own cue labels. Q101, A1S3, AV4, whatever your show calls them. A third option alongside page-based and sequential numbering. • Cover tool. Hide stage directions, scene notes, anything you don't need on the page. Lockable so they stay put while you keep marking up around them. • DCA On/Off layers. Independent On and Off DCA modes, each with their own colour. Mark mute moments separately from mic-on moments. WORKFLOW • Scrubber previews. Drag the scrubber and you'll see annotated thumbnails of every page. Land on the right page first time. • Page Number Offset. Tell the app which page your script body starts on so cue numbers and the scrubber align to the printed pages. • Recent Files. Tap Open to see your recent scripts and skip the file picker. • Reopens where you left off. The app comes back to your most recent script at the page you were on. SHOW MODE • Next Cue indicator now shows what's coming for Console and SFX separately. When both have a cue on the next page, you'll see both. Each can be turned off in Settings. DRAWING • Zero-latency Pencil drawing. The Draw tool now reacts the instant your Pencil touches the screen - no more missing the start of strokes. • Eraser preview ring. The eraser now shows a live circle so you can see exactly what you're about to erase. • Draw strokes can be moved after placement. Select a stroke and drag it. ANNOTATIONS • Recolour after placement. Select any annotation and the colour swatch appears in the top toolbar to change its colour directly. • Shape brackets reworked. Variable cap length, four drag handles, cap length adjustable after placement. • Closer endpoint wins on short arrows and lines. Tap near either end and the right handle grabs first time. PLUS Sharper Apple Pencil response. Smoother scrolling. Better support for unusually-shaped or image-based PDFs and rotated scans. iPad stays awake in Show Mode. Cleaner Settings panel.
