SqareUp keeps shared money simple. Add a group, log what everyone spent, and the app works out who owes who — so nobody has to open a spreadsheet after the trip.
WHO OWES WHO, WITHOUT THE MATH Every expense updates the group's balances instantly. Instead of a long list of small debts pointing in every direction, SqareUp simplifies the whole group down to the fewest payments needed to settle everyone up. If you owe Ana and Ana owes Marc, that becomes one payment.
FOUR WAYS TO SPLIT Split an expense equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares when someone should carry more than the rest. Pick who's in on each expense — it doesn't have to be the whole group. Rounding is handled to the last cent, so the parts always add up to the total.
TRIPS ABROAD Give the group a base currency and log expenses in any other one. The exchange rate is fetched for you and frozen onto that expense, so an old dinner in yen doesn't quietly change value weeks later. You can override the rate or the converted amount by hand whenever you know better.
SETTLE UP WHEN THE MONEY MOVES When someone actually pays, mark it in the app. Either side can record it — payer or receiver — in full or as a partial amount. Clear several debts at once from the balances screen, or settle straight from an expense with a swipe.
EVERYONE IS EQUAL No admins, no owners. Any member can add or edit an expense, invite someone, or record a settlement. Invite people by email or share a six-character join code as a link — every request is approved by someone already in the group.
STAY UP TO DATE One activity feed shows everything across all your groups, newest first, with invitations and join requests you can accept or decline right there. Push notifications tell you when someone else adds an expense, records a settlement, or wants to join.
BUILT TO FEEL AT HOME English and Spanish, light and dark, following your device or pinned to whatever you prefer. Categories for food, groceries, transport, stays, entertainment, home, utilities and health keep a long expense list readable.
A NOTE ON PAYMENTS SqareUp does not move money. Settling a debt records that cash changed hands somewhere else — a bank transfer, cash, whatever you already use. Your bank details never go near the app.
