# Taio

A modern app for text processing on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, provides seamless experience for clipboard, markdown editing and text workflows.

Taio supports Universal Purchase, pay once to use on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.

## Main Features

### Clipboard

Taio takes clipboard data as one of the input sources, you can capture it quickly for *temporary* use. Saved records can be synchronized across your iOS devices using iCloud, we also provide beautiful home screen widgets for better experience.

### Editor

Taio provides a full-fledged **Markdown** editor, it supports `CommonMark` and `GitHub Flavored` standards. Instead of telling you everything, we would like to highlight some great stuff here:

- Full text search, in-document search
- Built-in image uploading
- Focus mode
- Multi-Tab editing
- Multiple color themes
- Toolbar for beginners
- Outline view
- Math formulas and diagrams
- Tags, wikilinks and backlinks
- Export to multiple formats
- Dynamic text in snippets
- Open file system that can be accessed by other apps
- Syntax highlighting for common programming languages

There are more interesting features we cannot cover here, please try it out!

### Actions

Text actions in Taio is a powerful mechanism to provide extensibility for both **clipboard** and **editor**, it works the same as the `Shortcuts` app.

You can build your own workflows using several action blocks, with support for variables and control flows.

Furthermore, if the built-in actions don't meet your needs, you can even write action blocks using **JavaScript**. The JavaScript engine in Taio is powered by JSBox, it provides tons of API bindings to interact with iOS.

A very easy-to-use text editor

I've been trying to find a useful text editor on iOS, but after a long search, I still haven't found it. I've tried word processing tools such as impression notes and notions. Finally, I chose note, which I think satisfies a lot. Requirements, but notion is poorly optimized in the iOS app. When I tried to use nonion to write essays today, but found that Noion could not connect to the server, I chose Taio, and the effect of Taio was completely unexpected. But I think Taio still has some shortcomings. I hope Taio can support web-side versions. In addition, I hope to refer to JSBOX in subscription mode, which will further stimulate my subscription.

Great Start — Could Be Better

I've spent many hours looking for a good markdown editor that is native to Mac. I somehow stumbled upon Taio. I love the concept. It's native, integrates amazing with MacOS and iOS, and has a nice UI. However, it really needs some polishing to become a good note taking app on MacOS. I've been using Obsidian for my notes for over a year now. I love the power it offers, the plugins, the customizability, etc. However, I really don't like how much RAM it takes up, and it's just not going to be like a native app liek Taio. If Taio could even impliment some basic things I would use it over Obsidian on a daily basis, and I think a lot of other people would as well. Here are a few of my suggestions:
1. Optimize it for Mac. This could include adding things like customizable keyboard shortcuts.
2. Allow the folder view sidebar to have dropdown folders.
3. Add a command pallete for the commands. This could include the powerful Apple Shortcuts that integrate so well.
4. And an open file pallete for quick access to notes.
5. PLEASE just add a beautiful and thick cursor that matches the color scheme. For some reason this makes a huge difference.
6. The tabbing for lists is a little buggy too.

Good work, devs! You made an amazing app that is already nice. I would love to see you continue development on it. I even purchased the lifetime access because I trust that you guys will make it amazing. :)

Great Obsidian Companion

My favorite way to take typed notes on my Mac is with the Obsidian app, but that app lacks a mobile counterpart; this is where Taio comes in. With Taio, I can edit the markdown files that I create in Obsidian by taking advantage of its iCloud Drive integration. The provision of a plethora of editor themes enhances the user experience and the support for back links is second to none and is what makes this app feel tailor-made for Obsidian users.

The two main features that I wish Taio had were Dropbox sync, since I prefer to use Dropbox as opposed to iCloud for cloud storage, and native Spotlight search, so that I can open a document in Taio directly from Spotlight.

Regarding appearance, it would be nice if the themes worked in the preview and editor modes, since they currently only work in editor mode. Additional themes or the ability to make your own themes would be cool as well, but I don’t consider those to be must-have features.

Overall, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using Taio and consider it to be one of the three best note-taking apps on iOS, right alongside Bear and Craft Notes.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback!

Locations other than iCloud are something we are thinking about, as well as customizable rendering templates.

Speaking of Spotlight support, we will probably add it after we implemented full text search.
