TheftPatrol 4+

I purchased a new vehicle and the dealer already had this installed on every vehicle and I thought I could get a break on my insurance with it. The dealer I purchased from actually recovered multiple vehicles from a theft ring in Mexico and is on the advertising video that theft patrol advertises. The first few months the app has worked pretty well and it gives me some comfort knowing that my truck is protected in case of theft. I have had it for 6 months now and the app or device seem to be getting worse and worse with accuracy and timing. My apps odometer reading went from 4700 miles to 4 and won’t change, the notifications for over speed and movement come about 3 days late, and the movement tracking is at such a low frequency that it doesn’t give a good representation of my actual trips. I have also found that some trips are not saved, or a the app will say that my truck has circled my house over 100 times while it has been parked. I am really disappointed that the app has not been updated or improved since I bought my truck.

I would not recommend this system as it currently performs, but I hope it can be a reliable service in the future after I have paid around $800 for something that I can not rely on.

A few months ago, it actually worked most of the time, but it’s now a joke! My car is ALWAYS parked at work (at least it thinks so) and at the same time the last “event” is often somewhere between home and work and it has been there for more than 24 hours. Currently, according to the app, I’ve been waiting to make a left turn for more than 27 hours AND the car is parked at work; I left for home just under a day ago and that left turn isn’t even along the route I took (I expect that it is from when I went to lunch!) The Lexus enform app at least knows where my car actually is right now.

To make things worse, the latest update has eliminated much of what little information used to be available in lieu of a slicker looking presentation. It is, however, so often wrong about what info it does present that it really doesn’t matter!

The device was included for free with my now 8 month old Lexus and I’m still in a free trial, so no skin off my back, but unlikely to be signing up when they want me to pay for it!

I purchased this with my car purchase. Initially, it worked great. No issues really and then had a problem with the device syncing with the system. So I called up Theft Patrol customer service and they promptly reset the device, problem solved. Another year goes by and now the device is not registering activity in the car. I’ve sent email and called several times. This last time I finally spoke to someone who couldn’t see an issue on their end and were going to escalate the issue up and run diagnostics. Said they would call me back… but that still hasn’t happened. This issue has been going on since March 2023 and now in July 2023, still without a fix and no responsiveness from Theft Patrol. I would definitely reconsider on customer service alone. If there are no issue with the product, then you will be fine. But tech will always have issues and support will be needed. Spend your money on a different company.
