For much too long, doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, and acupuncturists have prescribed home exercise/self-therapy as part of their patient’s ongoing treatment plans. The need for such out-of-office remedies is obvious, as patients may experience pain, stiffness, immobility, and other issues while at work, during travel, in the office, or at home.
What are the practical options given the time constraints of the medical treatment providers? Medication? Phone calls with a nurse? Suffering in silence? Not many options exist in reality, so home exercise and unguided self-help therapy are essential to patient comfort and treatment success. Why then are there no better options for on-demand treatment of areas susceptible and prone to pain, stiffness, and immobility after commonplace injuries?
Areas such as the cervical spine/neck, the thoracic spine/back, lumbar spine/lower back, and shoulders are common areas of pain suffered by patients, whether arising from sports activities, car accidents, work-related incidents, or just simply overuse. Fortunately, however, the pain and immobility in those areas can be optimally maintained with good and simple programming that supplements supervised in-office care.
