Great for productivity tracking!

I’ve found the free version of Toggl worth using (over other free alternatives) for over five years:
- Just a couple taps on my screen each workday have given me years of data and actionable insight about my productivity (or lack thereof). For example, I spend *way* more time on bureaucratic stuff than I would have guessed. (When I gave this information to my superiors, the sometimes look for ways to cut down on bureaucracy, which is a win for everyone!)
- Once in awhile someone needs to know how much of my time is spent on certain activities. Without a tool like Toggl, my guesses would likely be way off (see the prior point). With Toggl, I can often give an accurate estimate of *absolute* time spent on a project or class of projects. I can also accurately estimate the *relative* percentage of my time that projects consume.

I often think about what I’d do if the free Toggl features were paywalled. I’m almost certainly stop using the app because there are others apps and other ways to track time for free (e.g., the native screen time tracking that syncs across all my devices). If Toggl ever needs more revenue, I recommend they go to employers and funding agencies to show them the value it can provide them. Only at scale (as opposed to the individual level) does the app provide enough value to justify paying for it.

The only time tracker that’s worked for me!

So glad I found this app! I have NEVER been someone who enjoyed the idea of tracking their time, probably because nothing else ever stuck before, but when it become more necessary and I had to find a way, Toggl has been the first system I’ve stuck with now for months! The two stand out things for me are it’s simplistic straight to the point functionality (there isn’t all this fancy fluff to be a distraction, though it still looks nice), and the very helpful idle time reminder that means you don’t have to remember to clock in and out meticulously, if you get up from your work and forget to time out, it will separate that time and ask you when you come back if it should count that time or not! That has been a game changer for me! Also it has a helpful nudge to remind you to track your time if you happen to forget to start tracking. Being able to sync seamlessly across the work on my devices and on my computer is fantastic and the again simple interface that lets me categorize my work in an easy to see manner has been great! Thanks for making this app!

Simple Productivity Tracker

The free version provides great multi-platform use for someone like me who doesn’t own a freelancing business and, as such, doesn’t need the capability to export billing documents or whatever to receive pay. I just use it to track how much time I spend studying, completing homework, and writing reports for each of my classes so that I have an overview and graph of what subjects I focus the most on. Seeing the numbers of hours worked on each subject helps motivate me to continue to keep my bar graphs high, and the timer function is much easier than imputing your own time into something like Google Sheets if you want to see graphs of your productivity.

The ease of use is superb and simplicity of the app’s aesthetics is pleasing to the eye as well. It doesn’t look cheesy and that’s another big plus. There are also browser extensions and desktop applications for people who want to track their time offline. And the app itself also helps you track your workflow without a connection, then syncs when you’re connected to the internet. A+ job!
