Thank you for using Train Tracker Pro! Our goal is to provide the best Amtrak and VIA Rail tracking experience for train travelers and railfans.
Here's what's new:
- Added deep integration of live train data with Siri
If you have an active subscription or free trial, you can say, "Siri, ask Train Tracker Pro" and Siri will ask you which train you want to check the status of. Tell Siri a train number or route name and Siri will tell you the delay status of the train, the next station stop, and the ETA at that station stop. If there are multiple trains matching the train number or route name you provided, Siri will help you narrow down the results to get to the train you want using natural language.
- Added App Shortcuts support
We currently offer two App Shortcuts: "Find on Map" and "Train Status"
Find on Map allows you to type a train name or number, select the train you want, and Train Tracker Pro will open and focus the map on that train's location. If you have an active free trial or subscription, you will also see a summary of the train's delay status, next station stop, and the ETA for that stop when the map focuses on the train's location.
Train Status allows you to type a train name or number, select the train you want, and get a text summary of the train's delay status, next station stop, and the ETA for that stop.
These App Shortcuts can be added to your home screen for quick access. On iPhones with the Action button, they can also be assigned to the Action button, which allows for even quicker access to train data from anywhere on your iPhone.

Subscribers and 7-day free trial users can now customize the Fastest and Most Delayed Trains lists to show 5, 10, 20, or all trains in those lists. If you want to see lists of every train in the Amtrak network, VIA Rail network, or both networks together so you can see every train’s speed and delay status arranged from highest to lowest, you can now do that! This functionality also applies in History mode so you can customize historical lists of the Fastest and Most Delayed Trains from any time within the past 14 days.
Free users will see lists of the Top 5 Fastest and Most Delayed Trains like always.

Happy Holidays from the Train Tracker Pro team! We wish the best to you and yours this holiday season. Our goal is to provide the best Amtrak and VIA Rail tracking experience for train travelers and railfans.
Here's what's new:
- Added an option to prevent screen sleep. Now, you can keep an eye on the map without having to constantly tap your screen to keep it from going to sleep. This option is turned off by default, but you can head into Settings and turn on 'Prevent Screen from Sleeping' to prevent your screen from dimming while Train Tracker Pro is in the foreground.
- Fixed an issue that could prevent trains from appearing on the map if the app was launched by tapping on a Live Activity. If you're following a train and you tap the Live Activity, you should now consistently see the train appear on the map.
2.4 12/17/2025
Thanks for using Train Tracker Pro! Our goal is to provide the best Amtrak and VIA Rail tracking experience for train travelers and railfans.
Here's what's new:
- Live Railcams are now easily accessible with a tap on the map!
We're thrilled to offer links to nearly 200 publicly-available railcam livestreams across North America to start, and we will continue to add to and curate the list of railcams. Please note that we only link you to video feeds that are provided publicly and free of charge by the owners of the video content. We do not own, re-stream, or otherwise duplicate or distribute any video content. A Train Tracker Pro subscription is not required to access railcam livestream links from our app.
Railcams pair perfectly with Train Tracker Pro. With our History mode, you can rewind the map to see how it looked at a point in time. Many video streams offer up to 12 hours of history; so if you missed a train going by a camera, you can rewind the map to see when the train was in the area of the camera and then rewind the livestream to that point in time. Also, many railcams offer live chat. If you're on a train that's passing by a camera, give a shoutout to the folks watching your train. They're likely to be some of the nicest folks you'll meet.

2.0.2 09/14/2025
Thanks for using Train Tracker Pro! We sincerely appreciate your support as we strive to give you the best Amtrak and VIA Rail tracking experience!
This is our biggest update yet. Here's what's new:
- History mode
Train Tracker Pro now shows you 14 days of train location history. Tap 'History' at the bottom of the screen and move the scrubber at the top of the screen to the desired time point. When you lift your finger, the map will be updated to exactly how it looked at that point in time. The quick seek buttons underneath the scrubber allow you to move backwards and forwards in increments of 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 30 minutes so you can zero in on the time you're interested in.
If you have an active free trial or subscription, you can tap on a train to see what its speed, timetable, previous stop, next stop, and Amtrak travel alert were at that point in time. While those train details are visible, you can use the scrubber bar or the quick seek buttons to move backwards or forwards in time and watch the train's speed, previous stop, next stop, and timetable update.
We've been having a lot of fun designing and testing this feature and we're so happy to finally share it with you!
- Easily toggle between 'Live' and 'History' modes
By tapping the buttons on the bottom bar, you can quickly switch between seeing live data and historical data. This is great if you want to compare how the map looked at an earlier point in time to how it looks now. Simply position the History mode scrubber where you want it to see how the map looked in the past and then tap the Live button to go back to seeing the live map. When you go back to History mode, the map will show the historical time point that you previously selected.
- Search and Top 5 fastest and most delayed trains lists now show both live and historical data
If you're in Live mode, you will be searching currently-active trains and seeing current Top 5 data. If you're in History mode, you will be searching trains that were on the map at that point in time and seeing Top 5 data as it was at that point in time.
- Streamlined map interface
Your map now has more room to show you trains without buttons getting in the way. We consolidated the standard/satellite map toggle, the show location toggle, and the map filters into a new Settings area that is easily accessible at the bottom of the screen. We replaced the search button that was previously in the top-left corner of the screen with a Search + Top 5 trains bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap that bar to bring up a sheet that shows you the Top 5 fastest and most delayed trains and also allows you to search for a train by name or number. As always, the search results and Top 5 trains lists are driven by the rail operators you have chosen to display on your map (Amtrak, VIA Rail, or both).
- Added toggles for light and dark modes in Settings
There are three options -- System, Light, and Dark.
System means the app follows whatever setting your iPhone is set to. Light and Dark force the app to use those settings regardless of what your device is set to.
If your iPhone (or the app) is set to light mode, the train details that are shown when you tap a train will now have a white background instead of a black background. If you're in dark mode, the background remains black just like it was in previous versions of the app.
- Updated station metadata
- Fixed an issue where the map might not render automatically after jumping to a train's location

- Added a scope button in the top-left corner of the timetable that quickly focuses the timetable on a train's next stop
- Fixed an issue that could cause the top 5 fastest and most delayed trains lists to not always update when updated train data is received. Now, the top 5 trains lists will update consistently when updated train data is received

Here's what's new:
- This is a big update for Live Activities! When you tap a Live Activity on your iPhone, you will now be taken to that train's location on the map. No more panning around the map or using search to locate a train when it moves. Simply tap the Live Activity. This also works great when you’re following multiple trains. Just tap each train’s Live Activity to quickly move between them on the map. You can follow up to 5 trains simultaneously and Live Activities continue to update automatically for up to 8 hours.

Here's what's new:
- We're ready for Amtrak's Mardi Gras service that's set to launch on August 18, 2025! The track overlay for that line has been added.
- Made the subscription experience smoother. Now, if you tap on a train when you don't have an active subscription or free trial, you will automatically be shown the details and timetable for that train after you activate a subscription or free trial. Previously, after you activated a subscription or free trial, you had to tap again on the train you wanted to see the information for. We're happy to save you from having to make extra taps when we can.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the map to fail to respond correctly when panning
- Fixed an issue where track overlays could lose their boldness when the map was zoomed in

1.4 08/11/2025
Thanks for using Train Tracker Pro!
Here's what's new:
- Vastly improved map responsiveness when panning and zooming. It's almost as smooth as Amtrak's butter cake!
- Clusters of trains now appear as numbered pins when the map is zoomed out to show how many trains are in an area instead of rendering each train individually. Tapping on a pin will display a fan of the trains near the pin location so you can easily tap the train you want. Zooming into a pin will gradually reveal the trains in that area.
- Fixed an issue where track overlays would shift position or judder while the map was panned or zoomed. Now, they'll stay in the correct location while the map is panned or zoomed.
- Adjusted the behavior of the location button in the bottom-left corner of the map. It now has three settings. Tap it once to show a blue dot at your location without moving the map to your location. Tap it again to focus the map on your location. Tap it again to turn off the blue dot. Our app does not collect or store your location information. The location option allows you to easily visualize your location relative to trains on the map.

Here's what's new:
- Added a new onboarding flow that will introduce you to the features of the app. The onboarding flow will only be shown on first launch, but it can be updated and shown again when noteworthy features are added to the app
- Fixed an issue that could occur when trains were fanned out on the map where if a search was done, the fanned out trains would move to the location of the searched train on the map. Now, when a search is done while fanned out trains are showing on the map, the fanned out trains disappear when the map moves to the location of the searched train
- Fixed an issue that could occur after train positions were updated on the map where if a search was done, the map centered on a train's previous location instead of its most recent location. Now, the map centers on a train's most recent location consistently
- Fixed an issue that could occur in search results when there are trains that started their journeys in different months (last day of the previous month and first day of the current month) where the search results could incorrectly list the train that departed on the last day of the previous month as having departed on the last day of the current month. Now, month rollover is handled and displayed correctly in search results

Here's what's new:
- It's a big update for Amtrak riders and trackers! You can now view train-specific alerts from Amtrak in Train Tracker Pro! When a train has an alert, a Travel Alert button will be visible when you tap a train on the map. Tap the Travel Alert button to view the most recent travel alert from Amtrak for that train. Train Tracker Pro will display the most recent travel alert even if it is hours or days old. With that in mind, always check the timetable for the latest train ETAs. We added a link to the timetable underneath the travel alert so you can easily access it from the alert.

We're thrilled with the response we've received to our app. If you would take a moment to leave a review in the App Store, we would greatly appreciate it!
Here's what's new:
- You can now easily see the top 5 most delayed and top 5 fastest trains currently operating in the Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada networks!
Simply tap the magnifying glass in the top-left corner of the map and the top 5 fastest and most delayed trains will be shown in descending order according to train speed and severity of delay. Tap the train you're interested in on the list and you will be taken to that train's location on the map. If you have an active free trial or subscription, you can tap on the train on the map to view the full timetable for the route, see weather details at the train's current location, and follow the train on your lock screen with Live Activities.
Just like the search functionality, the top 5 list is automatically filtered based on which train network(s) you have chosen to display on your map. You can choose to include just Amtrak, just VIA Rail, or both together. Filter your map using the filter button in the bottom-right corner of the map.
If you've ever wondered, "How fast is the fastest train in the network currently going?" or "What are the most delayed trains in the system right now?", this feature is for you! We hope you love it!

- Fixed an issue where the Next Stop on a Live Activity could alternate between showing the two-letter state/province abbreviation and not showing it. Now, the abbreviation should be shown consistently

Thanks for using Train Tracker Pro!
If you would take a moment to leave a review in the App Store, we would greatly appreciate it!
Here's what's new:
- Fixed an issue particularly affecting trains operated by Amtrak California where the timetable could incorrectly indicate that future stops on a route were canceled if an ETA wasn't yet available for those stations. Now, the status is reported as 'Data not available' for those stations
- Fixed an issue where Amtrak trains could be shown in a gray color on the map if actual arrival/departure data wasn't received for a previous stop on their route. Now, trains that have missing arrival/departure data for previous stops will still show the correct color based on the delay status of the train relative to its estimated time of arrival at its next station stop:
Green = early/on time/up to 15 minutes late
Yellow = 16-30 minutes late
Orange = 31-45 minutes late
Red = 46-59 minutes late
Black = 60+ minutes late
1.0.5 06/22/2025
Thanks for using Train Tracker Pro!
By popular demand, you can now search for and go directly to trains on the map! No more panning and zooming around the map to get to the train you want to see unless pan-and-zoom is your preferred search method.
Here's how it works:
- Tap the magnifying glass in the top-left corner of the map and start typing either the train name or train number
- Tap on a train in the search results and you will be taken to that train's location on the map
- Tap on the train on the map to see speed, direction of travel, weather at the train's current location, timetable details, and you can follow the train to stay up-to-date on your lock screen
When you're using search, the results are automatically filtered to show Amtrak, VIA Rail, or both depending on which trains you have chosen to show on your map. You can change what's showing on your map by tapping the Filters button in the bottom-right corner of the map.
If there are multiple trains on the map with the same train number, the search results will show you the date each train departed its origin station so you can easily pick the one you want.
