Most people learn digital skills by making mistakes. When those mistakes involve real money, they are expensive and frightening. Umerma removes that risk. Every transaction in this app is a practice simulation using fake money. Nothing you do here can affect a real account.
Built by the Umerma Foundation, a Nepali nonprofit providing free education to seniors, youth and underserved communities.
PRACTICE, DON'T PANIC
Umerma includes hands-on simulations of the everyday tasks that intimidate new smartphone users:
• Digital wallet — register an account, complete KYC, link a bank, set a PIN, send money, and read your transaction history
• QR payments — scan a code, check the recipient, confirm the amount, and see your receipt
• Phone calls — dial numbers, run USSD codes, and practise answering calls in the different ways real phones ask you to
• Guided lessons — step-by-step walkthroughs you can repeat as often as you like
LEARN AT YOUR OWN PACE
Lessons are broken into short steps with clear instructions. Your progress is saved, so you can stop and come back. Repeat any lesson as many times as you need — nobody is watching, and there is no way to get it wrong.
STAY SAFE ONLINE
Safety tips inside the wallet simulation cover the scams that target new users: fake payment requests, PIN sharing, prize messages and impostor calls. Learn to recognise them here rather than in your bank account.
