• 15 primitive shapes are built-in & ready to help you start modeling: plane, box, sphere, squircle, rounded box, arc, circle, cylinder, tube, cone, capsule, torus, icosphere, helix & voronoi
• Import existing models and reference images
• Import a lidar scan or room plan directing in modeling mode
• Compatible import & export formats: OBJ, STL, USD, USDZ
• Move, Rotate, & Scale gizmos make it easy to transform nodes, faces, edges & vertices
• Powerful modeling gizmos for extruding, insetting, beveling, poking, creasing & cutting
• Multiple selection & automatic loop selection help accelerate your modeling
• Tap on one of the gizmo handles to bring up an input field for precise transformations & mesh operations
• While using a gizmo, touch down with a second finger to turn on snapping
• Selection operations: grow, shrink, select shell & deselect
• Mesh operations: duplicate, instance, center pivot, apply transform & subdivide
• Face operations: separate, combine, bridge, extract, poke, collapse, delete, dissolve, harden & soften
• Edge operations: extrude, insert vertex, collapse, dissolve, bridge, harden & soften
• Vertex operations: insert edge, dissolve, delete & merge
• Non-destructive & configurable mesh modifiers: mirror & subdivision
• Apply complex transformations using different gizmo pivot points & orientations

EASILY NAVIGATE & STAY IN FLOW WHILE DESIGNING

• Carefully crafted & fully optimized for iPhone & iPad
• Designed to minimize cognitive overload by only showing tools & commands that are contextually relevant
• Easily navigate to any part of your model by dragging and pinching: two finger pinch to zoom and roll, and one finger drag to rotate
• Pop into the standard orthographic views by tapping one of the handles of the orientation gizmo
• Use two & three finger tap gestures to undo & redo
• Select components by dragging or using the rectangular selection mode
• Your work is saved automatically every two minutes and everytime you go back to the gallery
• Get an overview of your scene’s structure from the Outliner
• Long press on a node in the Outliner to easily rename, duplicate, instance, delete, parent & reorder any object in your scene
• Precisely adjust any node’s position, rotation & scale with the Inspector
• Adjust material properties, display & modifier options with the Inspector

STAY ORGANIZED ACROSS ALL YOUR DEVICES

• Preview, share, duplicate, delete & rename your models from the gallery
• iCloud syncing keeps all your models up to date, private & accessible across all your devices

PREVIEW, MEASURE, & RENDER YOUR CREATIONS

• 5 powerful rendering modes: Modeling, Physically Based, X-Ray, Wireframe & Path Traced
• Export renders in any aspect ratio & scale
• Preview your model in AR in two taps
• Export your scene as a USDZ & be confident it’ll look consistent on all Apple devices
• Tweak your model’s material & see changes in real-time
• Tweak-able scene settings: camera field of view, background type, blurriness, intensity & rotation
• Get model measurements in one click
• Add persistent dimensions between any two surfaces in your scene

PURCHASE & COMPATIBILITY

• One time purchase unlocks both iPhone & iPad versions
• Apple Pencil supported on select iPads
• 120 FPS supported on devices with ProMotion displays
• Path Tracing is supported on iPads with M series chips & iPhones with A15 Bionic & later
• Lidar Scan & Room Plan is supported on devices with a lidar sensor

What’s New

Version 1.1.3

WHAT'S NEW:

• Added hover support for selecting meshes, faces, edges and vertices. Gizmo handles also highlight on hover.
• When you hover over or press and hold a button you'll see its label next to it instead of near the top of the viewport.
• Now you can set a mesh's pivot point to anywhere you'd like.
• Improved Apply Transform and Center Pivot operations to preserves child transforms.
• Improved the Repair Mesh operation. It now completely rebuilds the mesh and merges vertices.
• Easily view the number of faces, edges, vertices and submeshes in the Inspector (per mesh) and Outliner (entire scene).
• Added top level menu state persistence. Valence will now remember which sections of the Outliner & Inspector are opened and closed.
• Added File (Save, Save As) options. Now you can save your file as a new file while modeling from the file menu on top of the Outliner.

BUG FIXES

• Fixed saving if saving is disabled upon going back to the gallery.
• Fixed mirror modifier mirroring plane change glitch when active with a subdivision modifier.
• Fixed crash when using rectangular selection when selection is empty.
• Fixed crash on going back to gallery when measurement UI is still present.
• Fixed crash on save due to path tracing rendering mode.
• Fixed showing extras for move and scale tools.
• Fixed center pivot to preserve child transforms.

Solid for what it is, can be a little crashy

I already use Shapr on my iPad for hard surface modeling, but wanted to give this a shot since Shapr is a pretty pricey subscription and doesn’t really do vertex or face manipulation since it’s CAD software.

It’s solid. You can get most of what you need done with its built in primitives and adding loops. The ui is solid enough and overall it works great. It really needs some simple Boolean tools though to round itself out and make it shine. It would also benefit from being able to extrude shapes on a curve. It’s snapping isn’t great but it gets the job done, and it could use a few more selection tools (like being able to select a loop easily). A way to inset a grid divide instead of just poke or inset would be great too instead of just have it to cut a bunch of loops.

That said it feels like it could be for hard surface, low poly modeling what Nomad ended up being for sculpting with some time.

A Great Start

This is a terrific little app, especially for v1, and it should surpass SketchUp in no time if he continues to work on it. I had been wondering when someone was going to release a valid 3D app for iPad based on modeling, not sculpting, and here it is. It’s missing some features (it’s a pretty good app already, but I’m largely rating it on potential) such as lathe and lofting, but one in particular: UV Maps.

The most popular art app on the iPad is Procreate, which can import 3d models (that have UV Maps) and paint on them directly. The killer iPad app is a 3d program that can export their models to Procreate for painting and texturing. That would be a game-changer, imo. It would give concept artists a legit tool for combining 3d and 2d without having to schlep a laptop around. I think Valence3d is missing a real opportunity by not including it right away. Still, it’s a great start and worth buying.

Potential for Greatness

Let me just say that this app really has the makings and base of something that could become very powerful for iPadOS, the fact that we finally have something descent and intuitive with its tools shows the capability and possibilities of developers starting to see the iPad as another operating system for capability. That being said I would love to see support for Bluetooth mouse functionality like you would see when using blender making it also intuitive for blender users to be able to pickup and use on the go. Most apps are always scaled down tech of the desktop able ones but it would be great to see desktop capable performance on iPad os to show everyone the iPad is the next frontier of computing and functionality,
