Volumatic. Control your volume automatically with your speed.
"Hands down best way to listen to podcasts and audio books in the car." - johnM
“...it’s the best one out there by far." - Graham
Volumatic™ is the best app to control your music volume based on your speed. As you accelerate, an algorithm increases your volume to counteract your cars road noise.
The simple Automatic mode, uses special settings designed to optimally block road noise as well as keep you from disturbing others at lights. For those who want full control, the manual mode allows you to set the speed and volume range to best fit your taste.
If you enjoy Volumatic, please share it with your friends!
* When Volumatic changes your device volume, iOS presents a volume changing indicator (the same one that appears when using the side buttons). This can sometimes get in the way while using other apps.
** Volumatic uses you GPS to determine your current speed. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. To keep your device charged we recommend plugging it in while using the Volumatic app.

This works. I like it. Know what I’d like even more? Something with a sliding scale that I could adjust with the volume controls. As in: When I’m at a stop in the boonies I might like the volume a bit lower than, say, when I’m at a light on main street, where I might need a little more volume. As it is now, the volume curve is fixed and only adjustable within the app. Yes, you can alter the volume with the volume controls on the phone when stopped but, as soon as you start moving, the volume reverts back to the presets. Great app tho.
I have speakers on my Harley. Before this app, it was a constant pain to adjust the volume. I would pull up to a light or a stop sign, I would have to turn it down to talk to the buddies I was riding with. Then when you take off, it would need to be turned up so you could hear it. This app completely takes care of that. You set it up once, then after that, you open the app, let it run in the background, then open up your music app, and presto. It’s a definite must have in my opinion.
The only minor issue I did have for a while was the volume showing up on the screen over the top of navigation as you would change speed. Unfortunately, that’s a requirement from Apple so it couldn’t be fixed.... until... iOS 13. The volume display is now much smaller and over to the side. So it is no longer an issue at all.
I have been using this app for a couple years and use it every time I ride my bike.
Excellent, would love one more feature
This app does as expected. I use it while on a boat, doing lots of stop and go to pick up wakeboarders etc. Would be really great to have a 'timer' feature. The app stops running sometimes. It seems like because we stop for 5 min or so, but I don't have my phone on me or notice, and it ends up being annoying to use. The volume of the boat changes a lot, so having this would let me set to 1hr or something and know it was running.
