Update: The IAP bug has been fixed, nice! If they can get a little more realism out of some of the samples, this will be a no brainer for iOS producers. I use it now was a practice tool (when not using another Positive Grid app). Though AUv3 would really be handy, the seemingly truncated samples on the snares and toms are the only real issue I see. Keep up the great work Positive Grid! This app has a lot of potential. That said it has some serious flaws. First off, in the new update, trying to launch the store seems to crash the app every time. Second, some of the samples, particularly the snares and toms, seem oddly truncated and lack a certain realism. I have heard other drum apps that do not have this issue, so I am curious why this one does. Third, though many of the drum patterns are really quite good, some have really odd playing artifacts such as way to many quick, fidgety drum hits and the like. However, the app does have a lot of promise. If Positive Grid keeps on it, they could have a truly great app on their hands. Most of this companies products are top notch, so I am hoping they address some of these issues.
Can not use at my production level. Recommended for beginners/novice recording artists.

I have many Positive grid products that I’ve purchased over the last couple years that I’ve Ive upgraded to the max, and use religiously on a daily basis.... but in all honesty X-Drummer just doesn’t cut it for me, especially on the level I’m at. The sample quality I require for my level of work just isn’t there and it lacks many features I thought it would offer. For musicians out there looking to get a quick, basic jam going and/or any musicians new to the recording process that need to quickly produce and lay down some simple, pre-programmed drum patterns without having to invest hours/days/weeks learning the process for MIDI sequencing and everything else that goes with it. X-Drummer is a simple tool that any average musician can use whether it’s practicing, rough demoing, help with songwriting, etc. I do NOT, however, recommend X-Drummer if you work at a professional/advanced level because it does NOT offer the production value, sample quality, kit customization, app integration, audio support/formatting, or flexible work flow that professional engineers/techs would use as far as industry standards go. This app will work just fine for most home studio musicians, hobbyists, music students, etc. so I’d recommend it to them any day. As far as my take on it, I’d honestly appreciate a refund because simply put this doesn’t serve me any purpose. Id rather use that money use towards other tools, software, or other gear like amp/Efx packs in Bias 2/Bias FX or towards a down payment on the new Bias Guitar Mini which looks INCREDIBLE. Bias 2, Bias FX, Final Touch, all great
Great app

Sometimes I need to program a beat/drumloop for a song on the fly, quickly, and I’m not always in front of my computer or in the studio. These app gets me close to it. The samples are very good and the different feels on each loop are very useful. The export feature is very useful also as I can upload to Google drive, edit in Audioshare and much more. It does lack in Latin Jazz or Latin rhythms but usually I need these to program quickly loops for Christian Rock when the drummer won’t show upto a service. Usually I use an iMac with Stylus RMX and Easy Drummer to get loops, edit them and bounce Intro, verse, bridge, chorus, etc. I’ve tried different drum iOS apps but none have ever gotten close to decent samples until now. X drummer is truly impressive. When it comes to features, I wish you could midi edit the existing loops and that each midi note had access to velocity controls or at least a volume per part, it would be nice to have more control on the dynamics of each loop, other than that I see no fault with these app, I was able to find and fine tune a 6/8 feel loop with a rim shot in less than 10 mins. I should say that the export was not exact but I did further editing of the resulting audio file on audioshare and I could trim a perfect loop ready to use with Novation Launchpad (which I use to trigger loops) I’ve have used the drums in GarageBand iOS to make loops which proved a bit difficult with less quality on the samples, yet usable. However X drummer really takes it to the next level, reminiscent of Easy Drummer 2, way better than DrumPerfectPro. I gave it 4 starts because I’m reserving the fifth star for when they add MIDI editing (the ability to edit the loops) MIDI control (the ability to trigger the loops with a controller) individual volumes or velocity for each part of the Drums (bass drum, hi hat, toms, etc,) maybe it could be implemented with a mixer for the drums. And also the ability to program your own loops using the samples available. All and all this is a great app and I do recommend it! One huge drawback is that it does not support Bluetooth speakers or headphones so for those of us that like to program on the go with a iPad Pro unless you have wired headphones you are stuck with the tiny sound of the iPad speakers, that can also be disturbing for other people, what if I want to work on a drum track on a long flight, or on a public place the all new iOS devices don’t have a headphone input anymore so not supporting Bluetooth it’s a huge overlook.
Two thumbs down

This could have been one of the best drum apps for the IPad and filled a sorely needed void …we need EZDrummer type app for IPad and this could have been it but the developer was too lazy to make it an auv3 and sadly that goes for all of Positive Grids apps. I don’t know who made the decision to ignore auv3 but they need to be fired from making IPad apps. The apps are actually great, I bought every iap for Bias amps and Bias fx, but the connectivity is terrible for using them in IPad Daws, I don’t even bother…I’m just glad I didn’t invest in and iap’s for X Drummer…not only does it not support auv3 but it’s pretty much been abandoned too. I wish another developer would buy this app and get it across the finish line
Bug fixes and performance improvements.
