An alternative to social media
This app is not bad for those of us who know the world of twitter, eg, and enjoy engaging the news each day but would like to do so without the constant barrage and rancid toxicity of opinionated blowhards (including the pressure to share one’s own opinions in leiu of all that). However, this app would benefit from some alternative news sources, ie democracy now or others.
All in all, a decent alternative when one has had his or her fill of social media news-reading.
Constant picture scroll “videos” & other bad ideas
So many things wrong with this app it would be impossible to list. The main feature that is a problem is on mobile devices like iPhones they have it set up where most of the articles are really videos. But they aren’t videos at all - they are slow scrolling pictures with limited text. Yshoo, we can read. Please just give us written articles. It only works in portrait, meaning you can't turn you iPad phone or other devise on its side (landscape) to get a bigger screen. If they can't get that right how many other things to you think are wrong with the app?! If you guessed everything, you r right!!!!
Swipe Controls Horrible
The new swipe controls to exit an article is too close to the motion used to simply scroll through the article while reading. It is so annoying to be reading an article and the app closes because it thinks you are swiping to go back to the main page.
It is so frustrating the app is almost unusable at this point. I don't usually rate this app because its just a news aggregate. But this change has enraged me so much because of the habit I have in using this app and is a increased level of stress because of the frustration of simply "reading the paper". It is the equivalent of reading a newspaper in a tornado.
Get rid of this feature immediately.
