This Apple Design Award–winning weather app provides detailed, hyperlocal forecasts—but not in the way you’d expect.
What we love: Getting weather reports sprinkled with sarcasm (“If I’m being totally honest, you’re better off using a Magic 8-Ball”) and the occasional insult (“The weather is nothing special. Just like you.”). Yet the app doesn’t compromise accuracy: Its meteorological data is sourced from Dark Sky.
New for iOS 15: Use Time Sensitive notifications to customize your weather alerts, so you know when to pack an umbrella, some sunscreen, or both. To get started, navigate to the Settings tab and choose Notifications.
Quick tip: Want to play TV meteorologist? Carrot Weather helps you record a 30-second video to share with friends—complete with a witty script for you to read. To try it out, go to the Weather tab, tap the share icon in the upper left, and select Weather Report.
Meet the creator: Brian Mueller codes, designs, and illustrates Carrot Weather—and also writes all its jokes. “When I hit a roadblock with coding, I can take a break and switch to writing or doing some design work,” he says. “I’m a bit of a perfectionist and it allows me to make exactly what I want.”
