High level strategy but definitely P2W

I have been playing this since I came out and am a F2P player. I don’t think anyone should expect this to be true to form AOE game. Nor will you be dominating anyone as a F2P player. However in terms of building a good community in your server, power struggles, backstabbing, drama and alliances this game has it all. It’s very fun once you get into the higher order of strategy and start seeing this as a public relations challenge it unlocks all the fun

The very first PC game I ever played was AOE back in the 90’s while living in Istanbul. I was riveted to that screen and those odd little ‘Lilliputians’ under my control. That was the magic… getting them to walk up to a tree a chop it down. I traveled with the game until I was leaving Malta or Cyprus sailing for Mexico in search of Eldorado and the Fountain of Youth. So imagine my disappointment 3 days ago when I loaded the game and I have nearly zero control over my citizenry. The closest thing to playing is ‘rubber stamping’ instructions to build something somewhere where the GAME has decided it should be. Then the sound doesn’t work and my phone overheated and the bird’s eye view disappeared so instead of seeing my town laid out before me… the screen is black. To be fair to the game and its current developers, I’m using a iPhone 14, so that’s probably why there are the various technical issues. But I’m just too GenX to enjoy a game which insists that it wipe my nose and behind for me.

Very Pay to Win

This game is extremely pay to win. Even though you can earn most of the stuff in game the progress of earning the free stuff is way to slow that end up having your citadel or farms getting attacked by players who paid their way to attack you. This is also nothing like the actual Age of empires we played for years. Its merely a reskin of Rise of Kingdoms. I deleted my account to never return. Also when I closed my account I got messages in arabic. This game were probably also the reason why I got so many spam in arabic. I suggest playing on a seperate email account and not linking any of you existing game accounts linked to your main email.

I love this game. First one of this genre. But I will say this game is quite pay to win. Dont tell me theres an easier way to grow to 30 million power within a month while Im still at 3 mil. These whales in the server are overpowering the smaller alliances and its just sad to see my alliance getting decimated by 1 person with $1000+ troops
