Ratings and Reviews
The best app I have been recommended!
I was watching a Voddie Baucham sermon and he recommended this app as an amazing tool for Bible study. Using this app has made me enjoy and look forward to spending time with God because I understand His word much better than I did before. May God bless the developers and those who contribute to its success, including the users and promoters.
Hebrew text is a mess
The spacing for Hebrew text in the app—and also the desktop app—is all over the place.
Vertically, it uses bigger line spaces than the Latin scripts, meaning lines of mixed English and Hebrew end up with inconsistent line spacing that makes it very difficult to read. This might be partially caused by the size of the Hebrew text: when compared to the English I would guess it’s a different font size, like it is in the desktop app.
Horizontally, the RTL and LTR together creates issues. Spaces can be found in weird places, like between Hebrew words and the brackets enclosing them, or before commas or semicolons. Hebrew words also end up getting incorrectly joined together, sometimes with final forms of the letters that have them ending up in the middle of a ‘word.’ This is problematic across the board, but especially in Hebrew grammars—and I would say especially introductory grammars for people learning the language. This sort of issue is a sure way to cause confusion.
Updates makes app worse
Why would you take away central functionality? Why cant we add passages from the search functionality to passage lists anymore, it simply gives the option to add a new passage list, but it was possible previously to also add to another passage list directly from search? So silly to update an app and then take away functions, what’s the point of having something with less functionality than before? Apart from that, still one of the best bible apps in my opinion.
