Back in the olden days, I watched my dad write down the mileage and gallons at each fill-up. I never could get in the habit of using a paper notebook, but keeping it in my phone is great. I’m two years into using Fuelly and I can’t imagine not having it. It’s more than just fuel and mileage info, it’s also a record of maintenance. I love that I can take a pic of my receipt at the pump, or the itemized invoice at the mechanic, and log exactly what was done. Then a few months later I can look at my notes when the shop tells me it is time to replace my spark plugs and I can say no thanks I had that done less than 10K miles ago. If I could change anything it would be the export function. All the images are lost, which stinks if you ever want to sell your vehicle and include the service record. Also, the tire size and recommended pressure aren’t viewable on the car info page. If you hit edit you can see the fields and edit them, but otherwise they’re invisible. Devs, if you’re reading, consider updating. Both are minor issues and don’t outweigh the overall usefulness of this app, especially for the very reasonable annual fee. If you’re looking for a place to store your vehicle data consider Fuelly.
1 Glaring Flaw...
crx81
I’ve been using this app for years now... long before it was taken over by Fuelly (can’t remember the old name, but remember the wooden looking logo). Anyway, this app has helped tremendously in tracking the true cost of ownership of many of my cars, and I’m therefore pretty anal about entering the info for accurate results. Herein lies the flaw... due to the new format, and it’s need to sync (to what?), the last time I opened it I noticed a sync error on one of the entries from my last road trip. It said duplicate entry and, after toggling between the two I saw that it was right. I went into edit and hit delete. Nothing happened. I did it again. Now BOTH entries are gone! The problem is that there is now no way to put one back, and my 24-27 average mpg vehicle is now showing a best of 61 mpg! My world has not ended, but I will never have an accurate account of this vehicle now as a result. There should be some way to insert a missed record, but there isn’t. Even though I can change the date, the “last mileage” is always the true last one recorded, and is blocked out from editing, so inserting one would jack up the history even more. This is something that needs addressed by the developer. Otherwise, this was a 5 Star app. 😞
Good tracker, annoying ads
tankerace
I purchased this app before it was named Fuelly and before the owner instituted a subscription model. It worked then and works now quite well as a fuel and auto maintenance tracker. -1 Star: Unfortunately, when it converted to Fuelly, some of the options were not afforded to those whose previously purchased the app and instead require and on-going subscription. While I find that frustrating as a user who already invested the advertised price into this app, I get the capitalistic nature of the subscription model for app developers and their overhead for continuous development. - 1 Star: My main annoyance with Fuelly is its regular advertising for premium subscription-based features upon app startup. I’m not even trying to access those features. I get interrupted using the features I’ve already paid for with the ads to pay for more. Makes me want to find another app, but I’ve got so much history with Fuelly that it would be time-consuming to migrate elsewhere. The the Fuelly devs: if you’re listening, please remove the apps that get in the way of non-premium features and please consider giving premium features to those who bought your app before you went to the subscription model.
Developers non responsive after deleting more than a year of data

I open the app during a road trip and I'm asked to log in to continue using. No ability to dismiss, no escape. I don't have a login, so immediately this is a red flag. I can also see app hasn't been updated in over a year, another red flag. I have over a year of data from two vehicles here. Thousands of miles logged. I've also been a paying user for more than a year. Means nothing. You know what's about to happen. The only way to get past the screen is to enter login credentials I don't have, so I go to the website and create an account, then enter it back into the app. Low and behold, ALL MY DATA IS GONE. They somehow made it mandatory to sign in remotely without an app update, then forgot about their customers who never created an account, and neglected to create any way to migrate local data to cloud, resulting in permanent data loss. Also, no response via email or Twitter. In fact the support email for Fuelly bounced. So, there's not much else to say other than for me to ask you to please don't waste your time with this app. It's either shut down and/or the developers stopped caring even after taking people's money. They give small dev shops everywhere a bad name. Invariably you will find get-rich-quick d-bags who don't give a crap about customers or products, and will do super shady stuff like copy your clipboard contents without warning, which by the way there is absolutely no reason you need that. Be better people and get out of this industry.
