Booked on Agoda app day before arrival, and they sent me a pre-confirmation booking. Upon my arrival to the hotel, I found that the hotel had no record. I checked my emails and found an email from Agoda stating they needed to validate my identity for anti-fraud measures. I previously missed this in my inbox (I check less regularly) and the app did not send me any messages. One would think the App would notify in addition to an email notification, especially for something so important.After going through the anti-fraud measures, Agoda then proceeded to cancel my booking, and freed up the room to book on the public agoda site at almost 10x the original price. I am fairly certain this is the case because because the room was unavailable prior to my anti-fraud submissions, and I was receiving email responses to my anti-fraud steps 2-3 minutes after each submission. They then sent the cancellation email within 1 minute of verifying my identity. When I checked Agoda again, there was suddenly “only 1 room left” (the room I booked), and it was 10x my original booking price and 2-3x more expensive than the other rooms (even the more luxurious ones).Although the user experience on the app is decent and prices are generally lower than most, the perceived cost savings would become irrelevant if the service can potentially leave you homeless and scrambling for a last-minute booking. In my case, I would recommend to the app developers to integrate the messaging and notifications into the app, especially for confirmations.

I’ve booked twice with Agoda and have had a terrible experience with their customer service. Our first stay didn’t have wifi, even though it was advertised to have wifi. We still need to answer emails and the wifi is crucial in that area because there is no cell reception. The property was under maintenance and didn’t have wifi in our cabin.The hotel issued a refund (after a lot of frustration was exhibited from our end), and provided us with a receipt. Still, Agoda did not release the funds. I called them 3 times over the course of the next several weeks. It is VERY difficult to get someone on the phone, and their response time is very slow. They also somehow didn’t have call notes from the first time I called. The next two times I called, the “booking partner” who is a third party outside of Agoda, refused to refund us each time. They would reply by email several days after the call and say that all they could offer was a $20 voucher. Which isn’t much after spending $224USD, and considering the property didn’t have something we needed. I’ve had to go through the bank to get the refund because Agoda keeps delaying the refund. This is shady behavior. I will avoid booking through Agoda in the future. They may have the “best deals” on accommodations, but it comes at a price, and if something is wrong with the accommodation, expect your time to be spent chasing their morally bankrupt customer service until you also have to submit a claim through your bank.

Infuriating experience

I booked a room at Motel 6 for $40 on Agoda. There is a timer on the booking page that clearly says my rate is being held so long as I complete the booking within five minutes. I did. A few knifes later I get an email stating that my booking was canceled due to “an unforeseen technical error.” I went back to book the room again. Now the rate is $49. I had just barely enough to pay for the room at the $40 rate...a rate that was being held if I completed the order on time - which I did! I called customer service and (after about 15 minutes of arguing and begging) they finally agreed to compensate the difference in “agoda cash” which I could apply to the booking. Fine. So I went to make a new reservation, except on the check out page there was no option to apply the agoda cash. Turns out the property is a “pay at hotel” property, which evidently means I can’t apply agoda cash to it. So the $9 of agoda cash that they begrudgingly gave me when they screwed up does me NO GOOD anyway and doesn’t actually compensate me in any way. I still don’t have any way to pay the higher rate and I have no way to relocate to some other property. What a load of garbage! The site clearly guaranteed that rate if I completed the booking in time! And I did! I held up my end of the bargain, you should too! Never using agoda again and will be reporting this story through every agency I can think of and sharing it through every social forum I know. Bunch of garbage.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

The worst experience I ever had was through this company which is called agoda. I made the reservation and got confirmation email from agoda and another welcoming email from the hotel itself (4-stars Suha creek hotel apartments in Dubai). I reached the hotel with family at midnight and we were really tired because we came from far away by car . I was shocked when the receptionist told me that I don’t have a reservation and they didn’t receive any emails from agoda. The story began 12:00 midnight . Hotel fully booked and can not do anything for me and what made it worse they have no charging manager and no reservation team to take action and solve the problem. I asked the hotel to call agoda but they refused . I called agoda by my self which costed me more than 300USD .I spent more than 4 hours speaking over the phone with three different agents to solve the problem but the only thing they had was apology and we will contact the hotel. They told me they called the hotel but I was at the reception and they did not get any calls from them so they lied. Eventually and after 5 hours of waiting I booked at another hotel at 05:00am and until now I’m waiting for agoda to refund me. They told me that they’ll refund me and put 16USD agoda cash to my app -such a pitty- but honestly I want nothing but my money back because after all I went through I’ll never use this app again. My reservation was 200 $ but I ended up spending more than 500$. My final advice for all DO NOT TRUST AGODA .
