Ratings and Reviews
Started using Arlo for job site security on a school that my company is building about a year and a half ago. We have arrested 9 people, caught red handed. Arlo sends me the alert, I call 911, and dispatch connects me to the responding officer. I am then able to lead the officers to the intruder using the ten cameras around the building. Once the arrest is made I then share the camera footage with the police and they have all the evidence needed. The simplicity of the system makes it easy to respond to what can be a pretty intense situation. I use Arlo for my home as well. In total I have purchased two base stations and thirteen cameras. Obviously I recommend this product.

Unless you have A LOT of patience, and are willing to try and try and TRY again to properly setup the Arlo system of connected lights (I bought 3) and cameras (I bought 6), don’t bother with this product.
For each light and each camera you want to add to the system, you must go thru a tedious, somewhat confusing, and unnecessarily time consuming process by the camera or light is “discovered” by the corresponding Arlo “base stations” (of which there are 2, one for the cameras and one for the lights, and for which you must also go thru a setup process to activate and connect with your Wifi network). It’s a pain, and worse yet, quite often doesn’t work. All you can do is keep trying. And trying.....It’s simply maddening.
And, finally, when you do get a camera and/or light discovered/connected to the corresponding base station, the app interface and navigation is simply not intuitive and labeled in geek speak that makes it hard to find things you want to do with the system.
Great idea, but the quality of the hardware, software and attention to the user experience doesn’t justify the expense, at least not in my case.
How...HOW does this app have 4.5 stars?!
Listen to the reviews, the app makes the system worthless. With this many bugs in your app, how is it that it’s been 2 weeks since you’ve released an update? We should be seeing a company of this size coming out with a new version every few days until you get it right (or even partially right). Gives off a very “we don’t care” kinda vibe.
I’m dealing with the same crap everyone else is: disconnecting cameras, can’t stop geofencing notifications no matter how hard I try, only get activity notifications when it wants to. What’s the point? Talk is cheap, so I’m truly packing my things and moving on to another company that seems to be actively responding to it’s customers feedback and issues. Seems like such an unnecessary loss since everything was working so perfectly before you had to break off from Netgear.
And am I missing something? Funny how everyone that’s sounding off here is completely dissatisfied with this system yet somehow it still has 4.5 stars. There’s no way you can tell me that’s a legit rating from legit customers.
