NEW FEATURE : Two Step Verification - Add an extra layer of security to your account. Activate from within Settings > Profile > Login Settings to require a secondary form of authentication for logins to unrecognized devices.*

If you had our previous app (now named “Arlo Legacy”), your account and camera settings will automatically transfer over when you sign in to this app. “Call a Friend” for Arlo Smart subscribers, mobile devices enabled for Geofencing, and settings specific to your iOS device will both need to be set up again.

*Our next release will return support for “trusting” new iOS 13 devices authenticated with two-step verification, and will also re-enable support for verification from previously trusted devices. To pass a two-step verification check with your iOS 13 device on version 2.9 of the Arlo app, please use SMS or email verification. After installing the upcoming version, please log out and log back in to add your iOS 13 device to the list of trusted devices.

Not thrilled

I bought an Arlo system (5 wireless cameras + base) almost 2 years ago. Ever since I set it up it has not been the greatest. It is sluggish to respond—-by the time I connect to the front door camera, the person has left or gotten frustrated waiting.

And since it is sluggish, the thing or person which sets off the camera motion detector, is not captured on video because they are long gone.

Even when the video and motion detector works, often the recording stops too soon. And I have it set to maximum length but still, it cuts off.

Lastly, the quality of the video is not good. I would have a hard time identifying someone from a distance of more than 15-20 feet from the camera. Details are not fine enough.

The only positives are the wireless portability and rechargeable batteries. Otherwise, it is a mediocre camera at best.

I purchased 4 little pan and tilt video HD cameras for indoors and they cost much less than my Arlos. They are awesome! Fast, crisp and clear and the pan and tilt works great.

At this point, I have invested so much $$ in the Arlo system, I have to stay with it, for now.

Too much lag and new upgraded app is buggy

We’ve had Arlo for 2 years now. We bought a pack of 3 cameras. One broke and doesn’t connect to base station any more. Not that great in quality if something is so expensive yet breaks not too far down the line. And like others have mentioned, there is just too much lag. “Motion is detected!” Yet, due to lag we only catch a glimpse of the end of the action that caused the alert. This lag also affects recordings. So, if someone breaks in, good luck capturing helpful details like what the person looks like or even the fact that they forced their way in. I’ve had the base station a couple of feet away from camera with our access point a few feet from that and it still lags. Haha.

Also, they released a new app. I’m assuming it allows additional products to connect and that’s why they needed a new app for it. The last app wasn’t great but I had no complaints. The new app is just buggy and therefore annoying. Notifications that new recordings are there when they’re not. It’s only cause the stupid app doesn’t recognize that they’ve already been viewed. Guess they wanted consistency. If their product lags, should have an app that’s just as buggy and laggy. Great. The amount we paid, we’re hesitant to not get the full life out of these cameras. But, we will definitely look for new and different cameras once we buy a new house in a couple years. Waste of time and effort. DO NOT BUY ARLO.

NEW version requires you to type in full logon. Takes away fingerprint logon.

You know... it’s bad enough that cams, less than 30 feet from the base lose connectivity (OFTEN), now you have to type in your full email address and password EVERY time!!! SERIOUSLY?!?! At least with the “Legacy Arlo” you could use fingerprint logon. Another MAJOR issue... unless you disconnect from WiFi, it won’t even accept the password, with a message at the top of the screen indicating “request has timed out”. If you’re going to force people to use the new version, you could at least verify it works the same as the legacy version. I’m going back to using the legacy version until the new version works, or the legacy version no longer works, whichever comes first.

Update: Problem on THIS particular issue turned out to be my router needed to be rebooted. However, as MANY others have pointed out, when you want or especially when you NEED to connect to see what’s going on, don’t count on seeing what you’re trying to see anytime soon. Sometimes, it takes 10+ minutes to connect. In terms of a crime fighting tool, forget about it. They can be in and out before you can finally connect. Inexcusable. Seriously... The only value the camera setup brings is that it’s wireless.
