Use it daily for work and the apps usability is pretty close to perfect and usually works smoothly. My biggest issue is the lack of ability to edit or remove pictures and notes from albums. Once it’s there it’s there for good. I’ve had times where the app auto loads into the last album I had open and unintentionally uploaded photos to that album that were meant for another. Now if I could delete said images and reupload them to the correct album I’d have no complaints. That extends to albums themselves. The ability to remove them in case of duplicates or errors in input would make this a 5 star app easily. Really the only “workaround” is adding notes to specific images noting that they are in the incorrect album which makes things confusing when you’re working a larger project that has thousands of photos.

The most recent updates have made using this app an infuriating experience. For starters, the new update has opened a proverbial can of worms for bug issues. We are now being logged out and the app crashes anytime you exit to another app momentarily. We’re also met with bugs and crashes anytime you upload multiple photos or have a lengthy note to add. I have lost multiple 500+ character notes simply because it took longer than two minutes to type them out. Next gear needs to look into hiring new developers or programmers because navigating this app has gone from decent to absolutely terrible. Also, PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD PHOTO LABELING!! The updated photo upload process to add descriptions makes me want to bash my head against something. You have to click on each individual photo three separate times, and push multiple buttons to add each individual description. Whoever came up with this system very obviously does not use this app. The attempt to make photo upload “sleeker” has turned it into a logistical nightmare to use. The calendar view is extremely annoying to navigate now. I don’t think the developers realize how much people in the field utilize and rely on those blue dots for job tasks. The new update also doesn’t allow you to view from week or month how many job tasks you have for each day. Switching your view from day to week to month is not intuitive at all and requires too much clicking and button pressing. Change it back. All in all, this update is a flop. I had no major qualms with using Dash Mobile in the past, and I still have a decent experience using the desktop site. NextGear, if you want any respect from the people on the ground level and in the field using this app, some serious overhaul or changing back to the old layout is something you need to do.

It takes forever to upload pictures and the biggest problem is it lets the phone sleep while uploading and kicks you completely out of the app. Then you have to resign in and start all over. Find the job log in and start uploading again. If you can sometimes it freezes and won’t allow any more pics uploaded. Then you have to make another file and try to upload again. And the process repeats. In documents it will stay open for hours but pic quits in less than a min unless the uploaded babysittits the program and doesn’t allow the phone to sleep. For companies like ours that depend on photos for insurance companies. We can only ask technicians to upload photos but they can’t be blamed when the software kicks them out before the upload is completed.

We use the Next Gear app daily and it's become an essential part of how our team works in the field. It does exactly what it's supposed to do:  helps us stay organized, document jobs, and sync with DASH in real time.The ability to upload photos, notes, and signatures on the go makes our crews more efficient and cuts down on back and forth. Recent updates have definitely improved stability and performance, which we appreciate.Could the interface be a little more modern? Sure. And offline access can be spotty in remote areas. But overall, the app delivers where it counts. If you’re already using DASH, this is a practical, reliable tool that makes job management smoother and more connected.
