You can find lots of sight word apps, Sight Word Games stands out because you can choose the sight words your learner works on! You can share with any device as well. While learning phonics is an important skill for beginning readers, sight words is another. Why learn words by sight? Simply put, there are some words (also called high frequency words) that appear so frequently in reading that we want our readers to know them automatically, by sight. Just the first 100 words of Fry’s word list make up nearly 50% of what we read. Wow! Knowing these words automatically helps to increase fluency, which can also build comprehension and understanding. I have 10 young grandchildren and I bought this app for them. They have enjoyed it so much. They had a tough time learning to maneuver through it in the beginning but once they got it they were very independent.

For those complaining about no sound. Either they fixed the bug or your phone was on vibrate. Make sure your phone volume is on and it works great!This has been great as extra practice for my kindergartener who struggles with sight words. I love that we can customize his list of words each time he has a new list come home from school.

Just purchased this app, but the sound doesn’t work. And, yes, the audio on my phone is on and working. No way to contact developer or trouble shoot issue. Additionally, the app is difficult to navigate; it’s just poorly designed. Unfortunately, because the audio doesn’t work I can’t give any insights as to the efficacy of the learning exercises or games. I’d like my money back.

I was really excited about this app. It worked well for a couple days and then the sound stopped working. Every other app on my phone is working with sound so it’s definitely just the app. I even tried deleting and reloading. I’m having trouble finding any support other than a redirect to the personal blog.
