The Virta app is good with connecting to your coach and reviewing the medical information provided. The app is not good with trying to track your daily food intake, especially when they want you to follow a specific diet guideline such as keto. It is impossible to stay within ketosis if you are not aware of the intake of calories on protein and fats and more importantly, tracking carbohydrates. They expect you to use another tracking app to to follow your diet, which kind of defeats the purpose of having this Virta health app. It would be useful to have an accurate food tracking app related to this so all the information can be stored in one place. Using other apps, like MyFitnessPal is less than ideal because the data that they provide is user generated which in turn becomes very inaccurate depending on your selection of choices.The AI generated meals do not include nutritional information so you have to place the information that they provide in the Virta app into another app to track your food and progress. With AI already built in, you would think that it would be easy to provide this information and be able to select the meals and track them

6 months on Virta and counting. very happy with the program. my results in ,so many measures, amazing. BP down no BP meds , No daily insulin injections , no pre meal insulin injections , no invokana , no c pap, no snoring , 25 lbs gone hello 30” jeans. it’s very hard to drop carbs as we all know yet in my weak moments my coach walks me through it and at times carries me thru the storms. my health situation is very ,very complex. the team has to factor diabetes , GI issues , cancer surgery , GI problems and my stubborn Irish personality. they all help so much especially -RH . she is one smart lady. a family member whom is a doctor and professor referred to my accomplishments as ‘ unsustainable ‘ at 3 months. i’ve taken this to heart. and i worked harder work out more and eat better. it’s great motivation when someone so smart sitting on such a high high pedestal doubts me or my resolve. the alternative is going back on pens and pills and circling the drain with my health . ah NO!

Never thought a Keto diet was the way to go, but now that I am using the Virta plan, I understand the benefits of changing out the fuel source from sugars (carbohydrates) to fats . The benefits I have received is mental clarity, increased energy, weight loss with a diminished sense of feeling hungry, therefore eating only twice daily. Additionally, inches are lost and clothing fits better and I’m able to move easier. WIN, WIN,WIN!! You are monitored by a team of health professionals, including a doctor and a coach assigned to you, 7 days a week. You also receive support through the Virta community online where you can pick each others brains for suggestions for menus and recipes, support with ‘hanging in there’, coping, travel suggestions, and whatever! Like I said at the top, this is a lifestyle change, and, with the information available to you and the support, ‘you can do it’!

I have only been using the app for about a week, but I’ve already had to uninstall it and reinstall it twice in order to get it to function properly. Two separate times when I have logged into the app, none of the content has loaded and instead there was just a spinning progress indicator. The hamburger menu wouldn’t activate so there was literally nothing I could do in the app. I verified that the site was still up through the website and through the app on my iPad, so I know it also wasn’t a network error since it shared the same network as the iPad. In that state, nothing short of a reinstall seemed to be the solution. I tried killing the app multiple times, restarting the phone, and even installed the latest iOS updates, all to no avail. Another shortcoming of the app is its inability to sync its data to/from Apple health. As a result, any of the blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, or other metrics have to be entered both in the Virta app, as well as recorded into Apple health (or another app that does sync with it.)
